I can't believe that it's up so fast! I wasn't going to post until one of you did first in case you didn't want us to do it yet.
Can I give the link out to the people at Diaspora, or should we wait until you two have some time to get it together?
ravenscape

Not sure. would it be better to wait until the domain name kicks in? it's a uuuuugly url right now.
I'm not sure how disruptive start-up admin cp stuff will be for someone who's logged in at the time.
Christina

I'll wait until you and alethias are ready. There's no rush.

Are we Rational Talk instead of Talk Rational on purpose?
ravenscape

No, not on purpose. When I figure out how to change that, I will!

I fixed that nasty setting that makes you click a quick reply button on another post before using the quick reply text box.

Jeebus--Diaspora has almost made me forget how nice a real forum is. No more weird post order stuff, eh Christina? :D

The thing that drove me crazy was wondering if anyone else was viewing the forum at the same time. I nearly wore out my refresh button.
Christina,
You spearheaded this whole thing and now have your own board. I just want to say super congratulations and thanks to you and the others. I hope this becomes everything you wanted.

Morning : )
Not only are posts in order, I can edit my typos and abysmal grammar again. I was tired of looking like an escapee from 'Illiterates Are Us'.
This is so cool.
Thanks Rex. I may have been the one to get disgusted first and kick up a fuss, but there's no way I would have even considered this if it hadn't been a group effort with organized and experienced people who wanted the same type of thing. This is going to be fun.

Yes, and I even worked for a few hours. :p
Raven and Alethias are doing all the hard work. I'm just yammering.

I think I got a good 6 hours sleep, but I spent some dream-time configuring very strange forums, mostly about woo. An Ouija forum, a ghosthunters forum, a UFO sightings forum...

The celebration of the 50th member will be postponed until number 52 arrives. Number 50 was raven's sock and then I noticed that Alethias has one too. Those don't count.
Still, things are going pretty good I'd say. New member sign up at HHub has crawled to a halt, almost the same for new posts.
Christina
03-08-2008, 08:25 PM
I don't remember exactly, but I think it took us a couple of weeks to get to 30 or so, and then the culties showed up and we got a lot of new people at once. This is much faster.
I really believe Christina that if we keep to initial concept this place could be exactly what a whole lot of fine folks have been hoping to find (me included). There's a lot of really fine people here already. What's not to like? I always thought it would do well, but admittedly so far better than expected. Do you think we should start a thread and call Gurdur out? Oooo
Christina

Yeah, that seems to be great way to kill a good board.

Raven and Alethias must have some very intelligent socks if they can sign up on a forum. Where do I get some? lol

Haven't you ever seen anyone make a puppet with a sock and play some role with it to entertain a kid?

I'm not the only one (http://www.talkrational.org/showthread.php?t=2) :p

Be happy that I'm not the one driving ; )If you're anything like the women drivers in Iowa, I would be scared. ;)
What am I saying? Most Iowans can't drive, and you should see it, when snow is added to the mix. :banghead:

I didn't mean literally driving a car, I meant giving me admin rights to set up the software. I'm better at hyper-posting than at taking my time and being careful. My driving is usually fine unless I'm not, and then I try not to drive unless I have to.

We've been open a week. In that time, we've amassed almost 200 threads, over 3000 posts and 85 members. More important, we've hammered out some reasonable guidelines for members and for moderators and are getting somewhere with a governance structure.
We had some concerns about opening the doors before we had more details hammered out, but so far it seems to be working out.
Congrats to EVERYONE! You've made it happen. :yay::notworthy::yay:

On December 14, TR's 300,000 post (http://talkrational.org/showthread.php?p=300000#post300000) was made. Congrats to Llyricist for writing it! :yay:
