Anyone know any good brands? I need a pair. Haven't got the faintest clue of what to look for.

How nice, but I'm more interested in bracing my knees than generating electricity.

Different types of braces address different types of knee problems. Usually people are interested in either lateral stability or patellar tracking, or both. What issue are you trying to solve with a brace?

I'm guessing my problem is the former. I don't think the problem is with my patella. hmm, I probably should ask my fencing instructor instead, he'd know which one to use, if any.

If you're looking for lateral stability, look for a brace that has structural support on the sides. These are usually thin strips inside the brace, and often made of metal, but not always. For comfort, I usually wear a sock underneath the brace. Cut off the toe and the cuff portion of a tube sock, and you can pull it over your knee and then wear the brace on top.

I used to use a CONTROLLER knee brace after I had major knee reconstructive surgery. It's custom made and offers support from all directions. Some Olympic skiers use it, too.

well, I went to fencing on saturday sans brace, and did pretty well. Its still a little tender, but actually seems more bothered by normal walking than fencing moves, strange. So maybe thinking about the brace was premature. I think what set it off was doing those fleches in that underheated gym.
