My SIL sent this to me. I found it interesting so I thought I'd post it.

Hi,

There are some things I never seem to hear about John McCain from the media. I thought you should see this list from MoveOn.org.

Please check it out and pass it on!

10 things you should know about John McCain (but probably don't):

John McCain voted against establishing a national holiday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Now he says his position has "evolved," yet he's continued to oppose key civil rights laws.1
According to Bloomberg News, McCain is more hawkish than Bush on Iraq, Russia and China. Conservative columnist Pat Buchanan says McCain "will make Cheney look like Gandhi."2
His reputation is built on his opposition to torture, but McCain voted against a bill to ban waterboarding, and then applauded President Bush for vetoing that ban.3
McCain opposes a woman's right to choose. He said, "I do not support Roe versus Wade. It should be overturned."4
The Children's Defense Fund rated McCain as the worst senator in Congress for children. He voted against the children's health care bill last year, then defended Bush's veto of the bill.5
He's one of the richest people in a Senate filled with millionaires. The Associated Press reports he and his wife own at least eight homes! Yet McCain says the solution to the housing crisis is for people facing foreclosure to get a "second job" and skip their vacations.6
Many of McCain's fellow Republican senators say he's too reckless to be commander in chief. One Republican senator said: "The thought of his being president sends a cold chill down my spine. He's erratic. He's hotheaded. He loses his temper and he worries me."7
McCain talks a lot about taking on special interests, but his campaign manager and top advisers are actually lobbyists. The government watchdog group Public Citizen says McCain has 59 lobbyists raising money for his campaign, more than any of the other presidential candidates.8
McCain has sought closer ties to the extreme religious right in recent years. The pastor McCain calls his "spiritual guide," Rod Parsley, believes America's founding mission is to destroy Islam, which he calls a "false religion." McCain sought the political support of right-wing preacher John Hagee, who believes Hurricane Katrina was God's punishment for gay rights and called the Catholic Church "the Antichrist" and a "false cult."9
He positions himself as pro-environment, but he scored a 0—yes, zero—from the League of Conservation Voters last year.10
John McCain is not who the Washington press corps makes him out to be. So forward this email to your personal network! And if you want stay in the loop on MoveOn's work to get the truth out about John McCain, sign up here:

The good news is the guy is so fucking old that, really, how much damage can he do between naps?Wakes up from a nap..."Nuke Iraq!" Subordinates: SIR, YES SIR!. So we do tactical nuclear strikes on iraq. Falls back asleep.

Wakes up again: "NUKE LIBYA!!" Subordinates: Sir, we are not currently at war with Libya... McCain "DON'T FUCKING ARGUE, JUST DO IT!!!" Subordinates: "SIR, YES SIR!"

McCain falls back asleep, while multiple Muslim nations ready for attacks against the US, and China readies for attack and several other countries do as well.

Dozing old men in power can do a helluva lot of damage when they have a shitlaod of power.

I don't think McCain is that doddering, btw. I'm just saying that even if he was he could do damage.

I'd pick him over Hillary Clinton, because I think he's a little less of a sociopath than she is, but I'd pick Obama over either because he at least seems to have a moral compass buried deep in there somewhere. I don't think either Hillary or Johnny McCain even know what a moral compass is.

I knew that one was coming, but Reagan had Alzheimer’s as well. I think McCain is just plain cucking frazy. (Which, I realize, may not be much of an improvement.)

The good news is the guy is so fucking old that, really, how much damage can he do between naps?I heard some talk on the radio this morning that McCain has acknowledged that age and medical condition are understandable concerns, and for this reason choice of VP may be more important than usual.

And that Condaleezza Rice is being seriously considered for that.

Ahem...That's why you've got to pay damn close attention to who he picks as a running mate, and who, of his campaign staff will be continuing in advisor roles, if he's elected. Look to who these people are most likely to surround themselves with. I don't like that with McCain, which is not surprising, as I'm a raging old leftie skeptic. I fear his possible selection of Huckabee as a running mate....it fits the "Southern Strategy" scenario. Rice would be a sane choice by comparison.

If that happens, the administration will subsidize the search for the red heifer so that they can start letting no-bid contracts to the usual suspects for the rebuilding of the Temple in Jerusalem.

Does anybody know if McCain stopped in at the Temple Institute in Jerusalem whilst he was on his tour?
