You knew it was comin'. :p

I haven't picked out my favorite just yet, but having recently watched Casino Royale (2006) for the umpteenth time, I was reminded once again how spectacular the opening chase scene is:

I think you guys have already mentioned the best ones.

I think the Casino Royale scene is the best foot chase, and Bullit is still the best car chase.

Blues Brothers is the best car chase of all time. Game over.

I also liked the chase in ( i think) the second Bourne movie, and yeah in a similar narrow streets kinda vein the Ronin one was awesome too.

Lets also not forget the original italian job. not that fucking abortion of a remake.

Then there was that french one that was repeated on TV for the longest time, some crap soap opera about a princess and an arab or something like that, good chase but it ended a bit abruptly for my liking.

Well, all the classics have been mentioned already. The Blues Brothers is definitely the best car chase scene I have ever seen. And yes, the chase scene in The Matrix Reloaded is its only redeeming feature. And Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade has a fun motorbike chase.

My son Matt says "Deathproof" in Grindhouse deserves props for it's "old-school, realistic quality." He mentioned "Bullit" as well.
Gotta admit that I agree. Loved the Grindhouse movies and Deathproof reminded me of Smokey and the Bandit and such good ole car chases.

Wow, what a topic...I'm a movie geek myself, so...

Bullitt
Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry
Gone In Sixty Seconds (1974 version)
The Junkman (1980)
Smokey and the bandit
Blues Brothers
To Live And Die In LA
Vanishing Point
Ronin
Firefox

Just for reference...The original "Gone In Sixty Seconds" destroyed 93 cars. "The Junkman" (by the same director/writer/star, H.B. Halicki) wrecked about 130, and "Blues Brothers" got to 140 or so. IMHO, however, the king of chases is still "Bullitt".

Which one of the Marx brothers films has them have a chase scene in a department store? Groucho is escaping on a bicycle, and he collides with chico, and ends up with a unicycle? That scene rocked. They didn't even attempt to make the unicycle look like it was half a bicycle.

Duck Soup? (or maybe Night at the Opera -- it's been a while)

Speaking of opera, I'm going to see Madame Butterfly tonight.

Ong Bak has two pretty cool chase scenes, on foot and with tuk tuks:

And Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade has a fun motorbike chase.

Was that the one that borrowed from Project A? Might be mixing it up with something else. Anyway, also a cool bike chase scene, either way:

Then there's Police Story, where the car chase down the hill isn't so much a chase as an excuse to blow up lots of shacks:

Also not sure if this quite counts, from the same film. Heavily reinforced umbrella:

Yep, Casino Royal came right to mind. Another one I liked was the car scenes in "The Peacemaker" where at the end Clooney gets out and caps the guy in a wrecked car for good measure. Aliens had a lot of good chase drama.
