A theist told me this today...
He gave me a link to a Holocaust Denial site and said that some stuff hasn't been refuted about the Holocaust like some stuff hasn't been refuted by Christians regarding Bible... so if I am willing to believe there is no God because Christianity doesn't have proof, I should be willing to deny the Holocaust because there is some things that have not been confirmed as fact.
Thoughts?

Well, there are multiple lines of evidence showing that the bulk of the Holocaust crimes really happened. (Michael Shermer has compilied some the evidence in an easy-to-understand format.)
We don't have any such thing to support the Bible stories.

There are people alive today who lived through the Holocaust.

tjakey hit the nail right on the head there methinks. what a wanker.
If they can come up with no end of convergent first hand anecdotes, a few weeks worth of video footage, a few mass graves with thousands of bodies in them, buildings that are still standing, a couple trains worth of paperwork from the Nazis and a ton of other corroboratory evidence for teh bible then i might rethink my stance.
So far they have the bible.

There are still people alive today that were in the camps. There are recorded television interviews of people who were in the camps. There is footage of the camps themselves. If someone brings me back authentic film footage of Jesus being resurrected, then this guy might be on to something.

The consensus seems to be that that guy is a moron.

'Ang on.
No proof of god, ergo no god.
Some things about the Holocaust uncertain, ergo no Holocaust.
Methinks your chap needs to take a course in logic.

Thoughts?I'm just wondering, was that theist you talking to yourself?
You should have clocked him one. That's what i did the last time I heard that sort of shit from someone.

I guess the rules are different in "Limbo." Last time I wanted to clock someone there was a cop standing near by, and me thinks he might have taken exception to my activities.

The last time I clocked a religious fundamentalist, it was because he had physically assaulted my girlfriend because she told him he was a racist shitbag. Technically, he had grabbed her by the body and got a handful of breast. He threatened to call the cops, at which point I suggested that he do, considering that clocking someone in defense of a friend was likely to be a couple hundred dollar fine, whereas sexual assault is likely to land you in jail for a few years. I haven't seen him around since, and that was six months ago.
At the same time, I've been physically assaulted by several of these nutcases, and I've received emailed death threats from one as well. There's a point where you crack, and that point is when, after someone trivializes an atrocity that your loved ones suffered through and after tolerating physical abuse from those shits, one then assaults another loved one in front of you.

any of you ever read Iain Banks Dead Air?
Spoiler alert.
The the main character, in a role as a tv talk show host smacks a holocaust denier in the face on air and then when the guys sues him for assault, uses the defence that despite being broadcast on 100channels, it never happened, . Class.

Tell that moron to write a letter to Elie Wiesel or to watch the documentary Shoah.

The holocaust doesn't require "belief", it requires knowledge of relatively recent history and observation of the voluminous evidence.

Sadly both seem to be lacking in the modern world. (IMHO)
