Our soon to be appointed new new governor general (http://www.abc.net.au/ra/news/stories/200804/s2215751.htm?tab=australia)is Quentin Bryce, an amazing woman who's worked for years in human rights and equal opportunity law. Hurrah!

Officially our Head of State is the Queen, but in practice the GG does all the real local work of the job. So now we have as our official top peoples
* The Queen (an anachronism, but there she is)
* The Governor General (soon to be Quentin Bryce)
* The Prime Minister (Kevin Rudd, who brings along Therese Rein, who kept her name and is a successful businesswoman who has not quit her job to be Mrs PM.)
* The Deputy Prime Minister (Julia Gillard)

I'm getting all misty. And our Kev told off the Chinese on human rights, too. In perfect mandarin. *sniff* Makes ya proud to be an Aussie.

I had the full title in sight, and wondered if this would be a historical essay (http://www.royal.gov.uk/output/Page118.asp). :D

ETA: Just saw it: The "short version" appears on the index page of the whole forum in the coulmn "last post".
