So, I've just tried to post something with a smattering of smilies, and got this message:

The following errors occurred when this message was submitted:

You have included 5 images in your message. You are limited to using 4 images so please go back and correct the problem and then continue again.

Images include use of smilies, the vB code [img] tag and HTML <img> tags. The use of these is all subject to them being enabled by the administrator.

This limit seems to be set rather too low. It's easy, in E&O-type discussions, to need, say, six pics (three pairs of animals or hominin skulls, for example). As it stands, just two pics would mean only being able to include two smilies, which isn't exactly a lot in a long post.

Basically, it's a pain in the arse. How about, say, six for pics and six smilies, if they can be separated?

I've found out where it's set in vBulletin Options; it is now set to 4. But I request some recommendations for what to change that upper limit to. Something like 10 or 20 images/post?

I'd say 10.

I was going to suggest 10 as well... but is there anything to be gained by limiting it below, say, 15 really?

Maybe 12-15, which would allow for 6-8 pics and a few smilies.

I've bumped the limit up to 16. Inlined images and smilies are counted together, not separately.
