This is inspired by the other thread by this name that pretty much intimidated the hell out of me, what with all the classics and serious scary stuff that people are reading.
Besides Pratchett (who I think we can all agree is pure fun) what are you reading, or have you read that you'd recommend as a reading good time.
I'll start with Christopher Brookmyre; All Fun and Games Until Somebody Loses an Eye (http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=GDxnHQAACAAJ&dq=inauthor:Christopher+inauthor:Brookmyre) was my first and sold me on him.
A Tale Etched in Blood and Hard Black Pencil (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tale-Etched-Blood-Black-Pencil/dp/0349118809/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1208192332&sr=8-1)
and
The Sacred Art of Stealing
(http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sacred-Art-Stealing-Christopher-Brookmyre/dp/0349114900/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1208192332&sr=8-4) were certainly worth it, and I have Not the End of the World (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Not-End-World-Christopher-Brookmyre/dp/0349109281/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1208192332&sr=8-8) waiting for me on the coffee table. Mr. trimpet snagged it before I could get to it and read it straight through in two days. He claims he liked it better than all the others we've read so I'm looking forward to it.
Brookmyre is good anyway, but best of all, he's irreverently anti religion.
