Just dropped in to check the morning headlines on CNN.com, and lo and behold, one of the "stories" being reported is:
Jesus spotted on the ceiling
An image of Jesus on the ceiling of a weight loss center is keeping patrons honest. KWCH's Denise Hnytka reports.
Really, CNN?
With all the important shit going on in the world today, one of the items that makes it onto page one is Jeebus appearing to fat people to make sure they don't turn the resistance on the exercise bike down a notch?
I urge anyone who's annoyed at major, mainstream media outlets continuing to run these bullshit fluff pieces alongside legitimate news stories to hit the "contact us" button on those pages.
I did, and it only took a second, and it made me feel like I was at least doing something to combat this unwarranted insertion of Christian theology into my news. No one hears you when you yell at the T.V, and the online editors don't know it if all you do is click off the page in disgust. You have to let them know you don't appreciate it, and ask them to stop.
I just got an auto-response (didn't expect any more, of course):
Thank you for taking the time to submit your comments on the "Top Stories" of the day on CNN.com!
This auto reply is your notification that we have received your email. While we are unable to personally reply to every e-mail, your comments are important to us, and we do read each and every one. Comments become part of the viewer response report that is prepared and made available each day to our producers and senior management.
IF they really do compile a "viewer response report", who knows? Maybe if enough of us squawked about crap like this, it might make a dent in it.
We'll ALWAYS be outnumbered by the mouth-breathers that will dash off a nice email thanking them for sharin' in Gawd's glory, Praise Gawd, , which makes it all the more imperative that we make our voice heard as well.
