In this game the first poster (me) can only post using 1 word. The second new poster can only use two words and so on. Thus, you will have to count the number of posters (NOT the number of posts) to see how many words you are allowed to use. Off the top of the dome, lets play.

HAMMER

GO!!!

Zelda
09-24-2008, 03:03 AM
hammer wins

Im the one using 2 words not you david

Zelda
09-24-2008, 03:15 AM
basically hammer can always only post one word, zelda can always only use 2 words, gojira can always only use 3 words ,david can only use 4 words and so on.
its in the order of the person not the posts.

Garrett
09-24-2008, 03:17 AM
This game still confuses me. :)

Zelda
09-24-2008, 03:17 AM
david lost

Garrett
09-24-2008, 03:22 AM
Do our numbers reset now?

HAMMER
09-24-2008, 03:23 AM
no!

Garrett
09-24-2008, 03:24 AM
Then I am five forever?

HAMMER

HAMMER
09-24-2008, 03:28 AM
good job dude

Zelda
09-24-2008, 03:32 AM
now what?

Garrett
09-24-2008, 04:40 AM
Wait - Hammer gave three words!

(doesn't that mean he lost?)

ofro
09-24-2008, 12:48 PM
Hammer doesn't understand his own game?

Brother Daniel
09-24-2008, 01:39 PM
That would seem to be the implication.

ofro
09-24-2008, 02:14 PM
It may be difficult to continue.

Magdlyn
09-24-2008, 04:08 PM
I say, she sells seashells by the seashore.

ofro
09-24-2008, 04:11 PM
Hopefully punctuations don't count as words?

Brother Daniel
09-24-2008, 05:18 PM
I think that has already been established.

ofro
09-24-2008, 05:22 PM
Sorry, I didn't pay enough attention.

Brother Daniel
09-24-2008, 07:00 PM
I say, she sells seashells by the seashore.
Maybe she sells seashells by the shoestore.

Garrett
09-24-2008, 11:54 PM
What are we talking about?

Zelda
09-24-2008, 11:59 PM
uh seashells

HAMMER
09-25-2008, 12:02 AM
sorry

HAMMER
09-25-2008, 12:05 AM
*rules edit*
abbreviations only count as one word. Example:
"I was PWI last night" only counts as five words
smileys are like punctuation, they do NOT count

Magdlyn
09-25-2008, 02:34 PM

Magdlyn

ofro
09-29-2008, 04:05 AM

Matty
09-29-2008, 04:20 AM

Garrett
09-29-2008, 04:53 AM
Hammer's one of a kind.

HAMMER
09-29-2008, 07:00 AM
Indeed

Zelda

Zelda

09-29-2008, 01:32 PM
Hammer and Garrett are two of a kind. :)

ofro
09-29-2008, 01:33 PM
Just maybe Hammer is a genius?

Magdlyn
09-29-2008, 01:34 PM
Do you know something I don't know, ofro?

ofro
09-29-2008, 01:36 PM
Because he started this crazy thread.

Zelda
09-29-2008, 11:55 PM
HE'S CRAZY

Untheist
09-30-2008, 12:20 AM
There is a thin line between genius and insanity.

Garrett
09-30-2008, 12:46 AM
I know that line well.

Brother Daniel
10-01-2008, 02:20 AM
You've tried it as a pickup line?

Zelda
10-01-2008, 03:56 AM
thats wrong!!

HAMMER
10-01-2008, 09:45 AM
*Flattered*

Oolon Colluphid
10-01-2008, 10:58 AM
Am I counting right, and so can only use eleven words?

ofro
10-01-2008, 11:35 AM
Yes, you are right about that.

Oolon Colluphid
10-01-2008, 11:38 AM
That is certainly a relief, I was afraid I had miscounted.

ofro
10-01-2008, 11:41 AM
Counting is a skill for life.

Garrett
10-01-2008, 11:59 AM
I guess counting is fundamental?

Oolon Colluphid
10-01-2008, 12:22 PM
It's the most basic means of ascertaining a number, I find.

Magdlyn
10-01-2008, 12:22 PM
*insert joke about being bad at math here*

ofro
10-01-2008, 12:49 PM
In order to stay below the

ofro
10-01-2008, 12:49 PM
imposed word limit, how about posting

ofro
10-01-2008, 12:49 PM
multiple times one after the other?

Magdlyn
10-01-2008, 12:52 PM
Oh, I think that's cheating. Bad boy, ofro.

Oolon Colluphid
10-01-2008, 12:56 PM
Seems like a good idea, but a temptation I shall avoid.

Magdlyn
10-01-2008, 01:03 PM
Says the proud owner of 11 word limit.

Cath B
10-01-2008, 01:09 PM
Remember the later you join in the more demanding the mathematics becomes.

ofro
10-01-2008, 01:18 PM
Will we have over 20 contributors?

Cath B
10-01-2008, 01:31 PM
Time will tell perchance if time enough there be all to reveal.

Brother Daniel
10-01-2008, 01:35 PM
I sense the grammar becoming more convoluted.

Cath B
10-01-2008, 01:37 PM
It can be hard to write something pithy with lots of words.

Brother Daniel
10-01-2008, 01:43 PM
Excuses, excuses.

(Ignore me -- I'm only joking.)

Cath B
10-01-2008, 01:51 PM
Aha! So two words joined by an apostrophe only count as one.

Brother Daniel
10-01-2008, 01:54 PM
That's the rule I'm following. (Maybe wrong....)

Oolon Colluphid
10-01-2008, 02:12 PM
Seems like a good enough rule to me, it's more natural ;)

ofro
10-01-2008, 02:35 PM
The whole thread is wonderfully artificial.

Magdlyn
10-01-2008, 02:36 PM
Could we make this a support thread? ...j/k

Oolon Colluphid
10-01-2008, 02:37 PM
The whole thread is wonderfully artificial.Like nylon, rayon, polyester, lurex, spandex, aramid or acrylic, you mean?

Tawny
10-01-2008, 02:40 PM
Possibly, but it could also mean support as in tubigrip, couldn't it?

Magdlyn
10-01-2008, 02:41 PM
Maybe this thread is already artificially supportive, hm?

Tawny
10-01-2008, 02:45 PM
You could very well be speaking the truth, one can never tell.

Oolon Colluphid
10-01-2008, 02:52 PM
Truth will set you free, which is why politicians are expensive.

Tawny
10-01-2008, 02:58 PM
All politicians are lying, money grabbing, public ignoring twats are they not?

Brother Daniel
10-01-2008, 03:07 PM
Or is that a self fulfilling prophecy?

Magdlyn
10-01-2008, 03:30 PM
Just noticed Daniel only has 950 posts. WTF?

Oolon Colluphid
10-01-2008, 03:34 PM
But it's not the quantity that counts Magdlyn, it's the quality.

Oolon Colluphid
10-01-2008, 03:36 PM
Admittedly his quality is shot to buggery too, but hey ho.

Magdlyn
10-01-2008, 03:36 PM
This is true; Daniel's posts are top notch.

Oolon Colluphid
10-01-2008, 03:38 PM
It seems that we have different standards of 'quality' then, Mags!

Magdlyn
10-01-2008, 03:40 PM
Since when is buggery a bad thing, dear?

Oolon Colluphid
10-01-2008, 03:47 PM
Oh, it's just an English phrase meaning completely knackered or hopeless.

Oolon Colluphid
10-01-2008, 03:51 PM
Buggery: informally, the work of an entomologist specialising in the hemiptera.

Brother Daniel
10-01-2008, 03:54 PM
I ought to post more about Lego.

Magdlyn
10-01-2008, 03:54 PM
You're skirting around the usual definition of buggery.

Tawny
10-01-2008, 03:57 PM
Lego Rocks, I loved it as a kid and played for ages

Brother Daniel
10-01-2008, 03:58 PM
Some old friends still call me "Legoman".

Brother Daniel
10-01-2008, 03:59 PM
On TR, that nickname has bad associations. :(

Brother Daniel
10-01-2008, 04:00 PM
It would make me resemble a creotard. :(

Magdlyn
10-01-2008, 04:00 PM
I ought to post more about Eddie Izzard.

Magdlyn
10-01-2008, 04:01 PM
I approve of your serial posting, Daniel... more!

Brother Daniel
10-01-2008, 04:02 PM
I hadn't heard of him until recently.

Magdlyn
10-01-2008, 04:06 PM
Me either; not til October of 2006, actually.

Magdlyn
10-01-2008, 04:07 PM
BTW, his TV series, The Riches, is cancelled. :(

ofro
10-01-2008, 04:28 PM
I approve of your serial posting, Daniel... more!

Why can't I do serial posts?

Oolon Colluphid
10-01-2008, 04:43 PM
What sort of serial would you like to post about, specifically?

Magdlyn
10-01-2008, 04:44 PM
I approve of your serial posting, Daniel... more!

Why can't I do serial posts?

Your serial posts were all one sentence, hypocrite!

10-01-2008, 05:10 PM
Good thing I'm not Scottish, or I would have to wait to join.

jess
10-01-2008, 05:11 PM

jess
10-01-2008, 05:13 PM

ofro
10-01-2008, 06:40 PM

Brother Daniel
10-01-2008, 06:46 PM

Brother Daniel
10-01-2008, 07:43 PM
I didn't understand. Are Scots particularly triskaidekaphobic?

jess
10-01-2008, 08:08 PM
I've heard that they are. We'll have to ask James Bannon if that's true.

Cath B
10-01-2008, 09:14 PM
Not in my experience though my observation skills are a bit iffy

Garrett
10-02-2008, 12:12 AM
I'm compulsively counting words. Shit. :(

Tawny
10-02-2008, 12:33 AM
Bad Tawny, Consider me whipped, flogged and thoroughly chastised. Please I beg forgiveness

10-02-2008, 12:33 AM
As far as I'm concerned, you're forgiven.

Untheist
10-02-2008, 04:57 AM
Visited Scotland recently; found people less superstitious than Americans.

Tawny
10-02-2008, 09:18 AM
I have some superstitions, saluting magpies that sort of thing, nothing very major.

jess
10-02-2008, 01:38 PM
And all the Scots here I know follow the superstition rule to a tee.

Brother Daniel
10-02-2008, 01:40 PM
To a golf tee? That sounds Scottish.

Brother Daniel
10-02-2008, 01:41 PM
What on earth is the "superstition rule"?

Tawny
10-02-2008, 02:11 PM
I have no idea, but I am sure it will be explained soon

ofro
10-02-2008, 05:03 PM

Brother Daniel
10-02-2008, 05:43 PM
Superstition causes a lifetime of bad luck.

Magdlyn
10-02-2008, 05:52 PM
I knock wood when talking about good luck.

jess
10-02-2008, 06:27 PM
I'd prefer to be non-superstitious, but then the cards tell me, 'why take chances?'

ofro
10-02-2008, 06:32 PM
I knock wood when talking about good luck.

Are you a woodpecker in disguise?

Magdlyn
10-02-2008, 06:40 PM
So it seems. I am an irrational woodpecker.

HAMMER
10-02-2008, 06:57 PM
As far as I'm concerned, you're forgiven.

Second question: Should we be counting numbers as words?

Noo

Brother Daniel
10-02-2008, 07:10 PM
I would have said "yes" to that.

HAMMER
10-02-2008, 07:12 PM
I would have said "yes" to that.

Yes?:dunno:

Brother Daniel
10-02-2008, 07:14 PM
I think Untheist's post 186 was valid.

HAMMER
10-02-2008, 07:16 PM
Ifuckedmyselfinthisgame

*Does that count as one word?*

Brother Daniel
10-02-2008, 07:21 PM
You decide. (I suppose that was inevitable.)

HAMMER
10-02-2008, 07:26 PM
You decide. (I suppose that was inevitable.)

Inevitable?

Brother Daniel
10-02-2008, 07:27 PM
If "186" is unitary, maybe "Ifuckedmyselfinthisgame" is.

Brother Daniel
10-02-2008, 07:28 PM
Taking my argument to its logical conclusion...

HAMMER
10-02-2008, 07:28 PM
Maybe:dunno:

Brother Daniel
10-02-2008, 07:28 PM
At least, one could argue that way.

Garrett
10-02-2008, 11:23 PM
So Hammer, what's the rule?

Zelda
10-03-2008, 02:57 AM
banana split

HAMMER
10-03-2008, 07:42 AM
So Hammer, what's the rule?

*If I have to decide, then numbers don't count as long as you type the numbers, NOT the letters that make up the word. EG: 11 = 0 words
Eleven = 1 word

Garrett
10-03-2008, 07:50 AM
Bananas, ice-cream, syrup, whipped-cream, nuts-and-a-cherry.

Tawny
10-03-2008, 02:28 PM
All to be eaten off one person, or a selection of your favourites?

Magdlyn
10-03-2008, 03:16 PM
Bananas, ice-cream, syrup, whipped-cream, nuts-and-a-cherry.

Hyphenated words phrases counting as one word? No.

Magdlyn
10-03-2008, 03:16 PM
1) Banana, nuts. 2) Ice cream, whipped cream, a cherry.
