You know what I'm talking about - having to log in again if you're directed to talkrational.org from www.talkrational.org or vice versa. There doesn't seem to be any practical way of making everyone use the same address (short of editing all such internal links), but at least it would be more practical to have one preferred address that the staff and regular members who are aware of it would use. www.talkrational.org seems to be the more obvious choice, as it's the more common URL format.

Yes, it's annoying.

Could we force www.talkrational.org to redirect to talkrational.org, or vice-versa?

This thread belongs more properly in Bug Sightings, but I went ahead and addressed this problem.

I fixed it by changing the Cookie Domain from (blank) to .talkrational.org -- the other suggested choice.

You will need to log out and log in again to make that fix take effect for you, because doing so will clear your old login cookie and give you a new, fixed one.

Good deal. I'd been meaning to say something about this.

This post also belongs in bug sightings, but since it probably springs from this change, here goes.

I just wrote a long response to something, found myself logged out when I tried to post it, and logging in again led repeatedly to the log in screeen.

Had to go back, copy the post, shut down, restart, log on before I could paste.

No, I didn't have the 'remember me' box ticked, but I've never had to before.

Using FF3.

Then again, I suppose it might be some sort of Firefox update glitch.

Seems to be OK for me, but I haven't cleared my cookies yet. I'll try.

Works fine David & I'm using FF3. Do you have NoScript installed?

No problems for me, but I was using a link without the www for my cookie already.
