Im curious, this forum is new, yet we have 22 admins/mods for ~150 (conservative, anyone over 5 posts) actually active members.

Im assuming that there was no real pre-requirement and many mods/admins are just carry-overs from iidb.

How come so many?

Anticipation?

And whats there jobs?

We aren't the immune system.

We're the genes.

A bunch of us decided to get together and open a forum a few weeks ago, and most of us had mod or admin experience at IIDB, the Hub or other places or wanted to try it so we volunteered to be the initial staff. Then we decided that we already had 3 great admins but it would still be a lot of fun to invite all of the resigned admins from IIDB too because we like them and think that they were great at their jobs. Then we needed a sysadmin so that no one regular admin had too much power, so we talked lpetrich into it. Then we got busier and started splitting up into forums and we wanted to have enough coverage so that someone would usually be around and 2 other people were interested so we added them too. So now we have more staff than we need at the moment and won't have to add more until we grow some more, but more of us doesn't mean more moderation.

We've talked about how members can ask for a recall vote on a mod or admin, mods can vote to recall admins and admins can vote to recall mods, but we haven't talked about how mods will be appointed in the future yet. There's a sticky on moderation policies at the top of this forum.

There are too many at the moment, no question. Think of it as planning for the future, and having a well-oiled machine in place when TR picks up speed and members. It's not going to be a small forum forever. Better try to use the know-how available to set everything up properly now, than to have untrained staff come in and be thrown in the deep end later - although this isn't restricted to staff. We're still hashing out rules and procedures in TH, nygreenguy, so feel absolutely free to give your input. I know it would be appreciated!
