I just purchased 4 new phones as my contract was ready for renewal with Verizon. I'm thinking I got so many things that I'll never use because it's not technology that scares me, but miniature buttons, and small letters on them. But I do like having a ringtone and a ringback tone. After searching I decided on the chorus to Snow by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and REO Speedwagon Keep on Loving You for a ringback tone.

What do you have as a ringtone and/or ringback tone?

Yes. Mine plays the intro song to the television series Red Dwarf.

My cell phone alarm clock plays the "red alert" siren sound from the original Star Trek. This sound has been the official "5 minutes til you're late for school" alarm since my kids started school. I used to have to sing my own "whoooOOP, whoooOOOP, whoooOOOP" alert, though.

I hope everyone who uses, manufactures and sells ringtones dies a horrible horrible death.

No offense.

I was thinking of something more along the lines of being locked in a closet with the same 5 second clip of a Barry Manilow song playing over and over for the rest of their lives.

My husband set up his cell phone to play the Death Star theme when it's his boss calling.

My DH makes our ringtones. He wants me to pick out songs that remind me of each family member so he can make a ringtone for each number, but that's a bit much.

Actually, my phone is so low tech that I can't download ring tones to it.

At one time, on the John Martyn fan site there was a free download of a bit of John as a ringtone.

I've never purchased a ringtone, but it's quite easy to make them. I like some of the old fashioned ringing phone ones.

Mine sounds like Mob Music... it's funny. My husband teases me that I have a mob-car, and a mob-ringtone... and that my Dad looked like Tony Soprano

I have a few. For most phone calls I receive, it's "The Goonies 'R' Good Enough" by Cyndi Lauper. When my best bud calls me, since he turned me on to their music in the first place, it's the song "Fight Test" by The Flaming Lips.

I wouldn't mind having the whistle from Kill Bill myself. I've liked the idea of that as a ringtone since it was Rosario Dawson's ringtone in Death Proof.

COOL! :)
We actually thought of it BEFORE Deathproof and when we heard it... we both looked at each other, smiled and said, "Heyyyyyyyyyyyyy!"

That is his favorite part of the movie and he's always whistling it. I cannot whistle like that. My whistle is WAY too high.

I like the sound of both of these.

For SMS messages I have "message for you sir" from Monty Python and the Holy Grail (you know, the bit where the page gets shot with the arrow to which the message is attached)

My ringtones are pretty boring though - might have to go looking for Red Dwarf now!

My general ringtone is Crazy Bitch by Buck Cherry. My hubby's ring on my phone is Without You by Motley Crue.

I need to get one for Rockstar. She use to use Girls Just Wanna Have Fun on her phone so I think I may add that one for her.

Mine goes 'ring ring', like a phone. ;)

Although admittedly I do have a rather strange one when my gf calls, as she recorded something of her singing. Which can get a bit confusing when I've got the phone near my ear and I think she's already talking to me. :p

why the fuck would anyone buy 4 new cell phones? WHat d'you need 4 for when one is nuisance enough.

I think my ringtone is some fake jazz or other but seeing as i hate the bloody things and have not actually used it in months, i cant be sure. It now lives inthe car devoid of battery.

My sister had one of those annoying fucking crazy frog ones.

We have 4 cell phones in the family. Two of them function as virtual shock collars for our teenaged sons. They also use them to call and text their friends, but the main purpose IMO is for them to be reachable when I want to reach them. If they ever stop answering, then I guess I'll enable the gps feature.

My ring tone is the theme tune from Pocoyo, I am still yet to find anybody else that has it, so I know when my phone is actually ringing. I get calls to my mobile so rarely that before I changed the ring tone I couldn't tell if it was my phone ringing or somebody else's.

On the DVD extras to A Fish Called Wanda (I think it is that one - it might be on True Lies), there is an interview with Jamie Lee Curtis.

There's an Easter Egg on the DVD showing an out-take from this, where her phone rings during the interview. She has the Halloween theme as her ringtone, much to the amusement of the interviewer...

(Personally, I have never had an audible ring tone on my phone. It has always been on silent "vibrate only" mode.)

My SO pays for the home phone and the internet. I already had a contract for 3 phones: 1 for me, 1 for him, and 1 shared between the two teenage boys. Instead of renewing the 1 shared phone without texting I got them each a phone on a buy one, get one plan. Having 100.00 credit due to my contract being up meant I got 4 phones for the price of 1. I've never texted and although I have that free in my new contract, I'm not sure I'll use it much. I'm told it's much like chatting online, but the keyboard is so small and not in the same order as a computer keyboard. I know I'm whining, but old eyes do have a hard time seeing such small print.
