Proof that the earth is young via PZ today. Check this link out:

Also contains proof of an outrageous conspiracy by the scientific establishment.

In all seriousness, since I've never seen one of these things before, is this a convincing example of Haversian canals (with real ones for comparison)? They don't look convincing at all to me, but then I wouldn't really know, since I know little about petrology or anatomy. The tale behind all this is summarised in the EC96-001 section. Basically Ed claims this is bone, geologist shows that it isn't bone, Ed says it's a conspiracy and that there is actually evidence that it is a bone.

He also found a fossilized human lung apparently.

Strange,
I click on your attached images and I get an "unauthorized access, not enough priveleges" page.

Is there some block on the image attachment settings?

That didn't seem to work - but when I "preview", all seems OK.

Hmmmmmm.

I can see the images when I click. I"ll do some poking around to see what might be the problem.

Try http://www.edconrad.com/. Some hosts don't set up the DNS records so as to allow leaving out the "www.".

Ed's a longstanding and well-known net kook (http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/homs/conrad.html). Man as old as coal! He's even one of the few that's banned from talk.origins.

Andrew MacRae, a geologist with the patience of a saint who used to frequent t.o (and who wrote several of the pages at talkorigins.org), evaluated some of Ed's specimens, mostly on his own nickel: Carboniferous human bones -- an evaluation (http://www.geo.ucalgary.ca/~macrae/t_origins/carbbones/carbbones.html). Since then Conrad has hated and excoriated MacRae almost as much as the Smithsonian. Google Groups search (http://groups.google.com/groups?as_q=macrae&num=10&scoring=r&as_epq=&as_oq=&as_eq=&as_ugroup=talk.origins&as_usubject=&as_uauthors=conrad&lr=&as_drrb=q&as_qdr=&as_mind=1&as_minm=1&as_miny=1981&as_maxd=27&as_maxm=3&as_maxy=2008&safe=off).

Yeah, I'm aware of his crankdom and interaction with MacRae. As far as I can tell, he accuses MacRae of not actually sampling his material (or at least not providing his material in the results), presenting different material that clearly contains no Haversian canals. For example, this rant from one of your links:

ANDREW MACRAE *DID NOT USE* A SLICE OF EC96-001 -- THE PORTION OF THE SPECIMEN THAT WORLD ACCLAIMED BONE EXPERT WILTON KROGMAN IDENTIFIED AS A PORTION OF A TIBIA -- FOR THE MICROSCOPIC PHOTOS OF CELLULAR STRUCTURE HE USED ON HIS WEB PAGE.

I've tried to post some photos that I assume come after MacRae did the work on this "specimen", in which Conrad purports to show that his "bone" does contain these canals. As I said, they don't look much like them, but thought maybe someone here might be better informed.

The photos don't seem to be working, but they can be seen on his webpage under the EC96-001 section.

Ed Conrad! Man as old as coal! I remember him from talkorigins.

He finds rocks or pieces of coal and insists they are fossils. Teeth or cranial bones. He bothered a lot of scientists.

Kind of like Byers, only more aggressive.
