Thank you for your kind offer but all in all I think we would rather not keep him, but thank you anyway.

Wasn't he in England not so long ago, last year sometime?

Yeah, last year. I think he made a visit to the Glasgow area, though, where my friend went to see him. Maybe she crossed the border to see the great man.

You mean Rolf Harris wasn't?

Give Ken Ham a proper beard with a moustache and glasses and he looks like Rolf .

I like the brief biographies on Ken Ham and Monty White on the pdf shown on the site linked to

Ken Ham .........

he makes the complex plain

Well yes if by that you mean ignoring loads of stuff I suppose he does

Monty White .......

enthralling audiences
If you have ever seen him as I have on TV you will be aware how dreadfully BORING he really is

Rolf harris is quality. The very epitome of an excellent human, and a national treasure.

Somebody should tell Ham how eager the people of Gruinard Island are to hear the Word of God.

I'd love to descend on one of these creationist gatherings en masse, flooding the audience with people who actually know shit and can argue him down.

Turns out Ham was my brother-in-law's biology teacher back when BIL was at high school. According to BIL, Ham used to bore them silly showing them creationist vids.

BIL and I finished high school in early 80s so he's been peddling this stuff for decades now! :(

Apparently some sceptics showed up in one of his presentations in the UK last year and caused a bit of a disturbance -- which unfortunately descended into a shouting match. My fundie friend was there and didn't understand how the sceptics "could be so hateful".

My guess is that the forum at these things is not conducive to any civil discussion.

Sadly the nearest one to me is in Liverpool on Monday which happens to be my birthday so I have other plans for that night ,otherwise I may have been tempted to go along to witness Ken "Pork Pie" Ham in person.

calm sceptics then. :D

The main thing is that I wouldn't consider going to one of these things alone. While I would be able to pull his arguments in certain areas apart, I am by no means an expert, and by no means know all of the counterarguments. The creationist position however is a relatively easy one, in which they don't really have to know shit, but can look impressive in verbal debates because they keep firing off questions which take quite a while and quite alot of knowledge to deal with. Furthermore, if there are few people, then he is likely to avoid questions from them in the cases that he is being shown up. The more people, the more defense against this sort of stuff.
