That look of constipated defeat on his face is priceless.

Only about 15 years or so too late for Zimbabwe.

Well, if Mugabe doesn't throw a military temper tantrum, this could at least lead to increased involvement of foreign aid groups and import of much-needed supplies. Trade for flour and farming expertise with, say, South Africa could really help the situation in Zimbabwe.

Yeah. It's not going to make any difference as to who is in charge.

There's a kid in my freshman math class whose grandfather is Abel Muzorewa (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abel_Muzorewa), who was Zimbabwe's first Prime Minister after independence, from what I gather. The kid is, of course, quite fascinated by what has been going on with this election. We discuss it every day when he comes into class.

I hope it ends peacefully.

Well, it might. One of the problems is that Mugabe is so unpleasant that no one wants to deal with him, and the other problem is that no one with any money wants to help a predominantly black country. What we need to do is start dropping crates of flour and other necessities, so that people can at least stabilize their economy. Then, supporting trade and providing interest-free loans to folks over there who have goals of protecting the economy would be the best way to go. We can put Zimbabwe back together again, but it's going to take a lot of work. It's certainly not a task Mr. Bush is up for.

But you could eat. small point I know, but I think it's one worth noting.

anyway, looks like "the fist" is trying to re-rig the election that he failed to rig the first time.
