Series co-creator David Benioff stated the new season “was a beast to make” (the largest undertaking in the show’s history). “We shot 680 hours of dailies, which translates to 3.7 million feet of film. We shot in five different countries—Northern Ireland, Spain, Croatia, Iceland, and Canada.”
gonna be awesome when someone leaks the whole season "accidentally"

Guys, we get it. Ramsay is awful. Jesus christ.
I'm worried the show is turning into a regular, predictable, mediocre show now that HBO is on its own as far as material goes.

:sadyes: I've noticed a decided lack of sense in some of the things they've done that are "off-book".
My spouse keeps asking me why people are doing things, and I've got no answers for him. Used to be I could give him the reasoning from the book, or fill in whatever was left out in the series... but now we're well into virgin territory without a game guide. Like "Did she not hear the entire horde of horses coming her way? Why didn't she hide?"

Anyways, the reason this season so far feels kinda shitty is that the editing sucks, not because the writing is substantially worse. There are just too many independent storylines (Dany, Dorne, Bran, Jon, Ramsey, Sansa, Euron, Cersei, Arya, Ser Strong) that it's just too hard to cram it all in without scenes feeling rushed and without the kind of development you need in each individual scene. The writers are partly responsible for that, but so is Martin, who wrote a story that has just fragmented into a bajillion individual little mini stories that all have to happen simultaneously because they interact with each other, but which somehow have to all be squeezed into a 10 hour season.

Agreed on the fractured storyline bit. Although, you know, they don't have to do all of it in 10 episodes. I'd be okay with them spanning a couple of years.
Maybe then I'd actually get the next book out of that motherfucker Martin.

My assumption is that we're going to see some of these storylines end soon. Ramsey/Jon/Sansa are all intertwined, and may bring in the new Pike storyline via Theon. I don't see how Ramsey doesn't die by the end of episode 9, given how the show and story like to punish hubris. The Bolton storyline is also just getting repetitive at this point, so it's really time to just end it. I don't know where the other storylines are going, but my guess is that the North is going to speed up and a lot of those storylines are going to end.

I still think Jon Snow is going to end up being Lyanna Stark's son by Rhaegar Targaryen, and end up being one of the 3 heads of the dragon with Daenerys. Beyond that I've got nothing. Not making any bets.

Anyway, "my watch is over" was a pretty cool way to end that episode. Shoulda seen it coming, but I didn't.
