well more about the fact that the absenmce of a link or rather the presence of a null link, isnt as cohesive a factor as the presence of something tangibly in common, and which is actively perpetuated, like religion. .
Its like trying to get a group of people who dont like marzipan to form a group. there could be zxillion of the buggers, but the fact that they all dont like marzipan is not a cohesive enough factor in the face of all the other variety of personality and beliefs, to join a "no marzipan" club.
