I know it can 'all be done with mirrors' and such, but somehow I struggle with the idea of Stephen Fry as a hobbit. If he were just voicing him, no probs, but he's always going to be a Big Bloke™ somehow.
If we're into off-the-wall casting, I reckon Eddie Izzard would be pretty good.

How about Andy Serkis? He's a great actor.
It can reprise his earlier role and double as the earlier Gollum, too.

^He'd have to put on a bit of weight, that's for sure. But I was really impressed with him as Mr. Tumnus (he was light years ahead of the BBC version).
And he's not Jack Black, of course, who was also mentioned as being in the running, as was (I can't believe this one) Daniel Radcliffe. That had better be just a rumour. Article here. |
