I've sometimes worried a little bit about the effect of bumper stickers on people I might need to help me with car trouble.

Especially when my car broke down in the middle of NY state (Limbaugh/Alex Jones territory, judging from my radio reception) with this bumper sticker from the 2004 presidential campaign:

But it turned out OK.

Whatever. Their god usually also loves what they love, likes what they like, etc. The hating bit is just the one that usually has harsher consequences for others.

Well, the reason I mentioned it is because I think it's the tribalism part - tribes bond by hating the "other". Having a God who hates that "other" too seals the bond effectively - locks it into a self-justificatory loop.
