E&O dropbox account

For those who don't know what dropbox is, it's an online file repository, where you can store files, and share them with other dropbox users. In order to use it, you have to have a dropbox account.

I have set up an account (evolutionandorigins) which will be based from the evolutionandorigins gmail account to allow members here to share files (papers etc) which may be of interest to each other

I will set up folders as required - a general E&O folder that all here can access, and if people really need them, more limited folders

For now, I will only give the folders read access, so only I can put files in - so if you want a file in there, you have to email it to the evolutionandorigins email account and then PM me to put it in dropbox, though I may start to give other people write access too. The rules for the dropbox folders will be completely arbitrary. If I decide you annoy me or I even just feel like it, I will remove peoples' access, or change their access rights.

For those people who do not have a dropbox account please PM me, and I will invite you (if I invite people, it gives me extra space on the account)

I do too - I use it for collaborating with colleagues. I love how it automatically syncs all my PC's at work and home and even my iPhone (I can even open files and edit them from my iPhone)

Though I still haven't got it to automatically sync from my work computer. I have to exit dropbox and reopen (to download - the upload syncs fine). I think it's to do with the proxy settings, but I go sort of cross-eyed when people start talking about shit like that.

Quickoffice Mobile Suite

it can open files on Dropbox, Box net and Google Docs accounts and edit Word Docs and Excel files. I wish I could also edit Powerpoints but I haven't found anything that can do that yet.

I also have Goodreader which also accesses Dropbox files - it has by far the best of the iPhone PDF readers - can handle really big files with lots of images and it can also extract and reflow text from PDF's (which can then be edited as it has a text editor although it can't handle Word Docs and Docx like QuickOffice can) - makes it a good ebook reader too

Yes but you can only open them - not edit them. With QuickOffice (and a few other apps) you can edit most of them (just not the ppts yet)
