who on this board readily accepts that institutional racism and white privilege exist and denies that institutional sexism and male privilege exist? are there enough of them to constitute a "you guys"

I find it interesting how easily you guys (and I do mean guys) accept that institutional racism and white privilege exists in abundance in our society... but you rail against suggestions of institutional sexism and male privilege on a pretty regular basis.

I don't rail against it, but if I could choose between being a white woman and a black man based on which life I thought was going to be easier, happier and more fulfilling then I would choose white woman without hesitation. I would rather be a white woman in a wheel chair. Who is blind.

But that doesn't mean that sexism and misogyny don't exist on a large scale or are not big problems.

Well if I was a black man I would have already been murdered in the streets before I made it past the age of 25 by another black man or the police. So either way I would be dead. Good thing I am a white man.

Institutional racism exists. Institutional racism is the result of unchecked individual racism. Institutional racism is unquestionably more harmful, as it carries the force of law, social pressure, and cultural privilege, it effects whole segments of a population. Its more harmful as a matter of scale, if nothing else.

It is futile to address the problem of institutional racism, without acknowledging individual racism.

Trying to address individual racism, without acknowledging that all people have an inherent propensity for racism, is also futile.

I don't know what the fix is, but it is a fix that will need to be applied to each generation of people, in order to keep racism from being institutionalized.

Mostly I was thinking about that thread the other day with the guys on the bus taking up space spreading their legs so they've got room for their balls, and how some of you guys were all "Hey, that's not male privilege, that's just cause I got balls and you gals should just deal" and we girls were pretty much "neat how you don't get all knee-touchy when it's a dude next to you , hmm?". And you guys were all like "yeah, well it's not male privilege, it's just how it is, I gotta be me".

And basically the author of that article was full of shit from your (male) point of view.

But hey. Maybe you all fully accept that male privilege and the cultural sexism that is implied by it is a 100% real thing, just as real and visceral as white privilege is and the cultural racism that is implied by that, right? So the next time someone points out that taking up a huge amount of space so your nuts can breath or dominating a conversation because your topic is more important is male privilege maybe you'll stfu up and think about it before you just dismiss it out of hand because you're men and you fucking know better than us broads, right?
