Eroticising biblical mythology has its place, but tbh I'm more intrigued by the idea of altered perspectives, removing divinity, accentuating absurdity, exposing the probable naked truth underlying the myth.

Entire books in the OT are about ruthless tribal warfare, about boasting and justifying terrible acts against other tribes.

If you really want to eroticise something - I've never seen anyone paint the interaction between god and satan in Job as the very peculiar divine rationalising of cruelty that it is, deities at play - it's a scenario ripe for sexualising the relationship between the two.

It's difficult to even find the kind of works I'm talking about. In part because any search you can think of is overwhelmed by thousands of stupid atheist meme pics (which somehow are included in 'art' and 'painting'), or the search picks up on religion/Christian in any text string and ignores the 'anti' descriptors.

I remember when I first saw the Jesus Christ Superstar movie when I was in high school. I was strongly affected by how it humanized Jesus and made me consider the whole saga in realistic terms for the first time. I'm sure it played no small part in pushing me to think critically enough about the bible to become an atheist.

Not by an urban definition, no. My phase has really never changed though. I guess I'm still a hippy by a rural definition. I shower and don't mind working for example. I did do a lot of hallucinogens in my youth. I blame art school. Of course, I did lots before that too. But whatever. I am a weird mix of cultural background.
