Rush is terrible

I tend to think Rush is a pretty great band, but they need to torch some of those lyrics forever.

eta: I pretty much always assume libertarians listen to Rush. I know it's not right, but I do it.

I dunno. I have respect for them. They've had a good following for a long time, produced a lot of music that a fair amount of people like, produced a few really good songs (imo), were relatively creative in what they played, and were all skilled musicians.

Not sure why I put that in past tense. Whatever.

I really probably only like 5 songs (or less) enough to have my ipod, but I respect what they do.

I like rush but not enough to listen to them on purpose. I don't turn off the radio if their old stuff comes on.

ETA: The guitar solo in la villa strangiato is kind of amazing I think.

you're nuts. subdivisions is awesome. it would be dumb 80s synth cheese, but the weird time signature makes it work. although the lyrics about "be cool or be cast out" are so pathetic, they're embarassing to listen to. it's OK to have been a loser in high school, but you're not supposed to advertise it.

oh and how could i forget dreamline. the opening major key arpeggio is a little gay-sounding and you almost give up on the song because of it, but it really sets up the badass chorus.

edit: though the bridge gets gay again

i give you better than 50-50 odds the intro and prechorus are in 7/8. it alternates between 7/8 and 4/4 throughout the song.
