Hey girls ... got anything interesting to talk about RE: saving agriculture?

Little too close to home?

Triggered?

Run away, run away!

Hello socrates1,

I see than you currently have made 2,800+ posts and you have received 1 upvote.
Do you mind my asking... who gave you the 1 upvote and what post it was for?

If you have a constructive contribution on the topic of this thread please post it.

Funny, I was thinking the very same thing.

Do you have any constructive on-topic contribution to make Socrates?

Lol

Sea Star has been trolling me this whole time.
In other words, you can't explain how that article is evidence for your claim. Good to know.
Nope. I did. But you will probably continue to pretend I didnt.

Okay, let's go on to my claim that you preach, not teach. I presented my evidence earlier - shall I repost it?
Nah. You are not a good student.
Please quote your post that explains how that article is evidence for your claim.
You are not a good teacher. You are not a teacher at all. You aren't even a good preacher.

David's motivation at base isn't teaching or preaching.

It's sales.

David sees himself as a salesman.

Would you buy a window from this man?

Lol!
Preaching is sales though.

True, but ya know what I mean.

Showing that David's facts are wrong makes little impression, just means he isn't selling them right.

That wasn't the experiment you liar.

No, it was careless, ignorant, unthinking behaviour on your part. But don't go trumpeting 'experiments' when you're really just too stubborn and lazy to build a fence, and make up some stupid rationale for sticking all your animals in a cage.
Actually, yes it was. What Dave learned from that was that predators eat chickens and rabbits if they are left unprotected. He could have just asked someone else over the age of, say, 3, but he had to run the experiment himself.

Well the majority is usually wrong donchaknow.

10 minutes in a "violent mob" but no injuries. Pretty incompetent violent mob.

What sort of weird justification for what is going on in there?

Anyway if you spend any time Googling at all on the topic of desertification, you learn pretty quickly ... for example from this source ... https://www.sciencedirect.com/topics/agricultural-and-biological-sciences/desertification

Desertification

James F. Reynolds, in Encyclopedia of Biodiversity, 2001
III.A.
Africa: Extensive Problems

Desertification is perhaps most often associated with Africa, due largely to the great droughts and famines of the 1970s and 1980s. The drought in the Sudano-Sahel region in the early 1970s claimed more than 250,000 lives, left millions destitute, and resulted in mass migrations of rural people to urban areas in search of food, housing, and work. Similarly, in 1982-1986 the combined effects of severe drought and civil war killed more than 1 million Ethiopians. These high-profile events received much attention from the world media and served to cement the association of desertification with Africa. However, the true problems of desertification in Africa are much more complex than these tragic, but relatively short-lived, localized events.
More than one-third of the world's drylands are found in Africa (Table II) and one-third of Africa is considered to suffer from some degree of land degradation, including more than 70% of all agricultural lands. The African regions most affected by desertification include the northern portion of the continent, the Sudano-Sahelian (equatorial) region, and the Kalahari-Namib in the south. In the arid and semiarid zones of Algeria, Libya, Morocco, and Tunisia, overgrazing of rangelands has led to severe soil erosion and loss of vegetation. This loss of valuable topsoil, combined with a cycle of droughts, has resulted in declining production and intensified food insecurity. Rain-fed croplands in this region have been degraded by the use of inappropriate heavy machinery, salinization, and cultivation of dry, sandy soils. Woodlands have been cleared for fuel or by fires for agriculture and grazing. In the Sudano-Sahelian region the story is basically the same: fragile soils degraded through improper cultivation practices, deforestation, and overgrazing, leaving the land more vulnerable to drought and soil erosion. In southern Africa, overgrazing has led to severe land degradation and a decrease in productivity.

Michael Darkoh of the University of Botswana recently reviewed the large number of programs and organizations established in Africa during the past 30 years to help arrest and mitigate the effects of drought and desertification. The list is long, and these programs involve a plethora of action plans and activities and usually result in the formation of various types of organizations at the local, regional, and national levels (see Section IV). Unfortunately, many of these efforts have had limited success. The reasons for these failures vary from region to region but include such factors as lack of political will, shortage of funds, lack of participation of the people directly affected, inappropriate land-tenure policies, civil strife, misdirected research priorities, failure to include desertification control activities in national development plans, and a failure of governments to make desertification a priority. Poor countries have found it difficult to finance environmental programs aimed to protect natural resources, and often foreign financial and technical assistance has been used to support urban populations at the expense of rural ones. Of course, none of these problems and concerns are necessarily unique to Africa.

None of this is remotely controversial. Coincidentally none of this remotely supports your bullshit.

Notice how that long list of contributing factors does not include "failure to implement particular flavours of stock management scheme"?

So Dave,
If I find proof of your quote mining, will you acknowledge it?

Not. A. Chance.

Pingu's climate theory is WILD speculation.

At least mine has some footing in reality.

Alternative reality.
12
Note the distinctly narcissistic assymetry a la AIG here?

Age of the earth relies on "historical science" so we claim it's unreliable (Were you there??1?1).

We observe a small area somewhere undergoing desertification largely due to overgrazing so David is totes justified in claiming the Sahara is an exactly identical thing.

Hypocrisy rules in Davetopia.

Are termites herbivores in Davetopia?

Fenrir there is no point in proving to you people anything about parasites. I already know that parasite problems are eliminated if you're following the above principles no matter what kind of pasture you start with.

Do I need to remind you why I post here? I just listed the reasons the other day so I thought you might remember. One of the reasons I post here is NOT to prove to you that my system eliminates parasites.

I get that you are a gutless little coward (emphasis on little) who has no idea what would support their rectally extracted bullshit.

What I don't get is why you would keep repeating the same rectal extractions here, over and over and over, when you know that not a single person here is simple-minded enough to buy your bullshit. Because they have all told you so repeatedly in very clear terms.

Is there no-where else anyone will interact with you? Is blanket dismissal and condemnation the best you can get and therefore somehow better than nothing?

Quote from: Hawkins
Conslusion:  Maybe you don't need grain or meds after all, like the grain companies and vets want you to believe.

So put your money where your mouth is.

Procure a property known for endemic parasites and successfully run a non-trivial number of goats (start with infected goats to really make people notice) for a number of years without meds. Keep actual records, even better have them regularly checked by an unbiased qualified third party. After the goats have been observably clean for a few years - profit.

I expect your methods could significantly reduce parasite issues, this isn't controversial as the mechanisms involved have been known for a very long time and similar strategies (resting paddocks etc.) have been used for a similarly long time. No-one will know till you actually demonstrate.

What will only get you laughed at is taking a piece of land which is unlikely to have any parasite load and running a couple of goats (clean due to prophylactic medication) on it for a couple of years and then claiming victory.

Of course incidental deaths from goatschwitz related accidents and other goat management issues may need to be reported as well, but a good scientist like yourself already knows that.

Then you could do a similar trial with the grain thing, having already eliminated parasites from the equation.

And in whose interest is it to promulgate the "propaganda" that straw is flammable?
Who - other than haters here - is pushing that insidious lie?
Borealis. To try to make me look stupid and her smart.

Oh come now David. If that was the goal then very little trying would be required.

Part of me feels like we all NEED to be preached at a bit for a topic that's this important.  I mean think about it ... we're talking about our very existence as a human race ... our very ability to feed ourselves.  Yeah it's that important.  Why not preach about it a bit?  I WANT people to get energized ... Coaches preach to their athletes about far less important matters.  Why?  To stir their emotions so they will wake up and do something useful for the cause.

It is indeed an important topic.

Were you thinking about maybe attempting to contribute to it at some point in the future?

Coz sure as fuck you've never contributed anything yet.

You seem to think that repeating it without addressing the objections is 'teaching'. It's not
This, Dave. This exactly.
I'm happy to entertain objections.  I do it all the time.

More bullshit.

Sunday school involves both.  Kids in SS are generally taught to believe in God at home, not SS so any communication in SS about the existence of God (and a few other major topics already learned at home) could be classed as "preaching" ... but teaching is also involved because SS involves lots of learning about what the Bible actually says which many kids don't receive at home. (Note that it doesn't matter whether a person believes if the Bible is true or not ... it's still "teaching.")

Note the bolded bit?

That's bullshit.

Your welcome.
21
I want to teach you about my beliefs relative to Item 1 on my list.  You don't have to accept them.  And yes of course you can object to anything just like any student sitting in a college classroom.  But by the end of the teaching session (a day? a week?) you will at least know in greater detail what my beliefs actually are regarding Item 1.  And hopefully you will be convinced that I am capable of "teaching" ... not just "preaching."

We know what your beliefs are, you have told us often enough.

Why would you still think that repeating your garbage again will make it any more palatable?
22
So what do you call someone who attempts to take someone from a state of knowledge to a state of ignorance by random waffling of bullshit?
23
Hey David, I also have some simple instructions for you to avoid getting called out all the time.

Stop posting
24
Why are you so concerned with such minutiae?

It's very odd.

Because changing posts after the fact is something you do regularly.

Carefully not acknowledging that people have responded to a post which now says something quite different is dishonest. Quelle surprise.
