It would be a more interesting question if the last line read "Did God die on the cross?".

It seems that Trinitarians are trained to fail to notice the contradiction between identifying Jesus as God and identifying Jesus as the Son of God.

That, and Jesus/God praying to himself, constantly referring to himself, asking himself for help, etc.  It almost reads as if God parasitized poor baby Jesus and went along for the ride right up to that ninth hour when Jesus cried out "Eloi Eloi lama sabachthani?"

Jesus makes so much more sense when you take out the supernatural stuff.

Immortal just means you don't die of natural causes/age, doesn't necessarily mean complete invulnerability - most conceptions of immortality I've read in scifi portray immortal beings as still capable of dying of accidents or murder. In theology in many pantheons gods can be killed and in some cases their death and rebirth becomes part of their mythos (as in the case of Jesus, Balder, Osiris, Ishtar etc).

The question of whether Jesus is real, and natural or supernatural, is another matter.

Well, there are weaker and stronger definitions of immortality.  The monotheistic god is usually considered immortal in the stronger sense, I think.

The contradiction here resides in
(1) Jesus is God
(2) Jesus died (and spent some time being dead)
(3) God was never dead
