The best thing ever about Star Wars was watching it in black and white while wasted at a party in the early 80's.

Looked just like lego when the colour wasn't there.

Hilarious.

Darth Vader could never have killed the Emperor of Man because he wouldn't have been able to fit the giant iron lung down that hole.

This review of the music is worth it just for this beautiful sentence alone:
Quote
The word "leitmotif," like much else emanating from the gaseous Planet Wagner, has caused considerable confusion over the years.

maybe just maybe we shouldn't be using the term "gaseous" in conjunction with the favorite composer of the Nazis.

Saw it last night. It was a hot mess, especially the part with Luke on the island.

Just rewatched Rogue One - still my favourite of the lot (The force awakens comes next)

Ok so I saw it. I feel like the pacing in the film was a bit off but the thematic elements were interesting. I think the Canto Bight section in particular needed to be more of a slow burn than a rapid chase scene.

The whole Finn/Canto Bight/Safecracker plot was a waste. They really needed a big Star Wars version of a break into Langley scene from the first mission impossible movie.

Really they have no idea what to do with Finn after Force Awakens. They should have killed him off in LJ so they wouldn't have to deal with finding something for his character to do in Ep 9.

I think I see where the Finn storyline is going, and I think there is an actual point to that character. The Canto Bight plot was cool but did not have enough time and more importantly had the dumb animal herd chase thing which sucked. But I also see the bigger point of what's going on there, but I think the dumb disney thing overshadowed the point they're trying to go for.

the casino subplot was worth it for a bunch of rich fucks being called "the worst people in the galaxy" and getting dunked on

Yeah, and I think I see where the plotline for the trilogy is going now, and how it connects to the broader star wars storyline.  There's a lot of suffering in the Star Wars universe, and the Old Republic/Rebels/Resistance have all done very little to fix that. The prequel trilogy are in large part about the fact that Qui-Gon Jin thought it was important to save a force sensitive kid from slavery because he wanted to train him, but didn't care about the fact he was pulling that child away from his mother, who was also a slave. The motives of a lot of the "good" guys in the prequels are really suspect, which is why the trilogy sucked. What TLJ and to a lesser extent TFA seem to be about is that the Force isn't about war and ships blowing up other ships. It is about all the living things that have sort of been a backdrop in the films since the beginning, and the war between good and evil is itself mostly just harming that. In retrospect, that vision certainly seems to have been part of Rogue One as well.

Honestly I am beginning to wonder if this is going to partially rehabilitate the prequels as well.

I want them to draw a contrast between the old jedi order taking young kids from parents to train as jedi and the first order doing the same for stormtroopers.
