Robots and uncanny valleys
We used to have a thread full of cool, scary robot videos.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-7xvqQeoA8c

This one could replace Amazon warehouse workers, I think.  It recalculates center of gravity up to 10 times per second.  It can lift 100 lbs, and travel 15 miles on a charge.

And it looks right out of Star Wars.

I would like to see some of the verbage in Boston Dynamics insurance language for personal injury at the jobsite.  The forms probably have an Azimov's three laws questionaire embedded somewhere.

if you give it away you'll have so many

I wonder if the outtakes at the end happened after the robot had nailed it.  I'm guessing not.

Either way, Boston Dynamics is sooner or later going to build something that will Kill Us All.  :stare:

Then kill them all.
Who even made the rule that we cannot group ducks and fish together for the simple reason that they are both aquatic? If I want to group them that way and it serves my purpose then I can jolly well do it however I want to and it is still a nested hierarchy and you can't tell me that it's not.

I am sorry but I don't want our future overlords sounding like dentist drills the entire time they move

Don't worry. There's no sound on the surface of Chiron Beta Prime.

The article's author complains that the Erica portrait is 'too synthetic'. Which is interesting - I found the face convincing and interesting, the hair, however, is at odds with the amazingly created face because it is an obviously synthetic (and not very expensive) wig and clashes with the youth and sophistication otherwise noteworthy in the photo.

I worked there last year, and in terms of technical skill/aesthetic it doesn't feel any different from many of the other photos in the exhibition.
