Yeah that too, just for added excitement. I hope anyone who stayed is significantly above sea level.

My BIL's House is at 28 ft above sea level a couple blocks from the intercoastal at the Eau Gallie river (or however it's spelled). He didn't leave because his truck is in the shop. I'm like, what about Uber? He couldn't make it happen though. My 14 yr old nephew is with him. The storm surge and ocean waves will be lessened by the barrier island but still.
There's the Indian River and the Banana River.  There is no Eau Gallie River.

Although, I work right next to the Eau Gallie causeway which goes over the Indian River. </ST>

I have several friends who live along the coast stretching from Crescent Beach to Jacksonville beach, and a cluster of family in Pointe Vedra.  Most came through unscathed.  Some are filing insurance claims for flood damage to floors and appliances.  One friend was personally affected by one of the thankfully few Florida fatalities.

Saint Augustine and Anastasia Island's recovery may take years.

Seriously?  I spent almost 50 years of my life in Brevard county.  Currently I'm just down the road from you right now.

I stayed for the storm, just like I always have.  It was nothing big in south Florida.

There is an unofficial Manatee feeding area along the river there, where people "illegally" feed them lettuce.  It's awesome.

And illegal.

Manatee loves them some lettuce

I've seen that. I was fishing there once and the guy I was with accidentally hooked a flying pelican in the wing with a cast. Ever try to hold one of those things still after yanking it out of the sky and dragging it across a river? They are kind of scary when they're pissed as hell. We had to make a loop and pull it's bill down to its neck. to get the hook out.

They also love it when you spray your garden hose on them.

It's the fresh water, they get their water requirements from water in the food so a lettuce leaf is like 80% water.
And a fresh water hose is a sweet, sweet fountain of refreshment; probably a cross between a chocolate fountain and an open beer tap to us.
