Anyway, that's a different issue for a different subforum, I think.

Yeah, no shit.

So I saw it last night. I had avoided all reviews and news of it and kept myself spoiler-free to get as genuine  a first experience as I could.

I liked it. Quite a lot, actually. I came out of the theatre thinking that it was all that TFA should have been. (And it wasn't JUST because of its blatant anti-Trumpism. ;))

The one CG character in the darker set was much better executed than the other.

Other than K-2SO and misc. alien extras, which characters were CGI?

I thought they just recast one of those?
Why do I bother?

saw it. it was ok. I appreciated some of the little things they did, like the musical theme that sounded kinda like the star wars theme but with important variations. That was neat. In general, I feel like it was closer to the prequels than to Force Awakens and I'm not sure how I felt about that.

They did, but they overlaid CGI faces from 40 years ago.

I liked it but I saw it in 3d expecting it to be better in 3d because spaceships and explosions but the 3d wasn't really even noticable. See in in 2d.

I saw it yesterday. Pretty decent. I didn't really see anything particularly political about it, though. Ignoring the part where the Emporer shows up--played by Alec Baldwin--and promises to "make the galaxy great again," and then repeatedly says "bigly" for no reason. That was weird.

I mean, basically that convoy battle was the Iraq War from the insurgents' point of view. You can't not see that as a political piece of film.

I suppose, but if that's an anti-Trump statement, it's pretty indirect.

General anti-western imperialism, not explicitly anti-Trump

I was disappointed by the lack of aliens on Jedha.

Yes, that is Trump wearing a pink shirt in the 80s. Very liberal.

finally got around to seeing it the other day.  honestly, kinda disappointed.  it was ok, but just ok.  barely ok.  almost not ok.

I never found myself caring that much about the story or characters.  the quality of the acting and writing was just meh.  someone itt mentioned it being star wars porn.  I agree.  I kept wondering if they were trying to get away with 2 hours of references and easter eggs instead of a movie.

I rank it below the force awakens, but still above all three prequels.  all things considered, it was still basically professional quality, as opposed to a high school project with a lot of expensive CG work.
