"Information Center"
This thing just appeared. How do I get rid of it?

It has been there forever. What you mean is you finally noticed it. :rofl:

Anyway it's collapsible if you don't want to look at it.

The information center covers more page (vertically, not horizontally) since we added the recent posts section.  Is it causing problems on mobile devices?  I don't pay much attention to it, but it seems to work ok.

It's at the bottom of the page anyway. I don't know why anyone would scroll that far down if they don't want to look at it. Seems like self-inflicted misery.

But, as I said, it is collapsible anyway.

in the storm cloud theme it's on the right hand side starting at the top.

the white and green one. Cleanest and doesn't tell me how many posts I have. :)

Ok, so that's easy to deal with. I can change that so it's at the bottom for everyone, or I can give people custom CSS for their own browsers. If they are sensible enough to use browsers that support that.

(Which basically means Gecko or nothing)

Personally I run the recent posts block (and only that) at the upper left of the page on desktop. Using custom CSS in my browser, of course.

I never bother looking at the rest of the info centre. Could happily ditch everything else.

Just remove Storm Cloud's BoardIndex.template.php

Probably won't need any other changes.

Totally untested of course. :grin: But should work. :parrot:

How? I checked to see if it was collapsible and didn't see an option

Yeah that option seems to have been removed from Storm Cloud. No idea why.

Had a look at the coding. Removing this from Storm Cloud's index.css should drop things back to the default position at the bottom of the page.

Code: (index.css - Lines 62-75 inclusive) [Select]
#boardindex_wrap {
float: left;
margin-right: -260px;
width: 100%;
}

#board_main_content_section {
margin: 0 260px 0 0;
}

#info_center {
float: right;
width: 250px;
}

If you combine that CSS change with deleting Storm Cloud's BoardIndex.template.php*, it should all revert to the standard layout.

*Has the no-collapse fuckery in it, as well as some other crud.

ETA: Oh fukkit, I suppose I should test this shit on local. :p

Hey question: is anyone madly in love with any particular feature of Storm Cloud?

Reason I ask is because if all that's wanted is the dismal colour scheme, it'd probably make more sense to just add another colour variant to the default theme. No debugging required that way, since it'd just be a few hex codes that needed changing.

The only theme that matters is the green and white one

I use the default theme, have info center on the right, and it's not collapsible.  Also it doesn't bother me a bit.

Storm Cloud is the default theme.

I like it mostly for the colors.  For me, it's easier on the eyes than the green theme.

Yeah, I know the green theme was designed for readability and ease on the eyes, but Storm Cloud is still easier for me to look at.  idk sue my eyes.

Storm Cloud is the forum default at the moment.

The default theme is the one that comes with the software. That's the green and white one.

And IDGAF if some people want to use Storm Cloud. My point is that it would be easier to make a variant of the default theme with Storm Cloud's abysmally gruesome colour scheme than it would be to fuck around with Storm Cloud.

So, if people want changes to Storm Cloud, and are really only wanting its colour scheme, rather than anything about its layout, and are happy with default Elk layout, because that's effectively what they're trying to get back, a variant is the way to go.

As long as there's a option for white on black idgaf what you choose.
Why do I bother?

For some reason I read this as Storm Front being a default forum.  Then I checked the thread titles and came back to reread this message.

I do have an information center now. I've always had it it turns out but it started offering the most recent posts all the sudden. It used to just be the stats which I just saw as a normal breadcrumb type footer.

I have no idea if there is anything in Storm Cloud that many members care about.  The only different thing about it that I like is the color scheme.

We could use some input from users on this.
