Your lack of faith in Barb's pluckiness is disturbing.

No, waffles are for plebs.

Leggos are the patrician choice.

the step-brother of madmax, why was he in the show? i was hoping he'd end up doing something (fatally) heroic but he was a dick to the end

I just finished. Yeah, the stepbrother was weird.  Also, the way Jane saved them was too formulaic.  A better fight would have been good.

yeah, he was useless, probably the worst part of this season. like, you expected that to happen because season 1 subverted this kind of shit (with the steve/jonathan dynamic) but this guy is just bad through and through. i don't even remember his name, but who cares about it.

in contrast, dr. owens did the subversion thing right. he's slimy and secretive and seems like another brenner at first but he actually is trying to do the right thing under difficult circumstances.

I watched one of the behind the scenes things and the duffer brothers straight up said they wanted the brother (Billy) to be a straight up irredeemable villain, a human antagonist to counter the supernatural ones.  They thought it was important since all their other human antagonists ended up being redeemed somehow so it was getting too predictable.

I loved the Dustin/Steve road show.

Also, Steve as best babysitter was pretty great.
