Oh I missed that sweet part in my 7 minute speed read.

It is bad because who gives a flying fuck.

No I had not read it before, nor did I speed read it in 7 minutes.  I started reading it, skipped around a bit, and then came to the above conclusion.

That is pretty bad beep booping.

You may be shocked to learn someone has beep booped this as well

Honestly that fast travel was actually less egregious than some of the others where actual armies were involved.  I'm not going to ST the math and guess at how fast a dragon flies but if you shrink westeros a little bit you probably get a day in each direction by air.

Sure.  I didn't necessarily mean that they were just small differences, only that even small differences can cause issues later on.  Like, one that is clearly significant is the Lady Stoneheart/Brienne/Jaime storyline.  At this point all we know is that Brienne and Jaime head off somewhere.  I can guess that may they end up in King's Landing together at some point, because of this contrivance that has sent Brienne down there to be there at the same time as Jaime.  Same with the Hound.  I am pretty sure he ends up at King's Landing in the books because of Cleganebowl, but how to get him there in the show?  So what it looks like to me is you had all these characters in different places in the show because of some other changes (no Lady Stoneheart, Sansa in Winterfell early on instead of fake Arya, etc.), and they were stuck and had to come up with several rushed plot contrivances to get everyone where they needed to be, whereas in the books Martin does that over thousands of pages.   So we got dumb beyond the wall plan, dumb letter Sansa responded to by sending Brienne in her place, etc.

It reminds me of something Martin said early on about a snowball or butterfly effect.  He noted that seemingly minor changes early on were going to create plot difficulties later.

I'm pretty sure we established long ago, on this very website, that atheists are awful.

Where are these commentaries airing? I've seen them referenced before but when I stay past the end of the show Ballers comes on and no show commentary.

They are at the end of the on demand version of the episode.

Also important to note that Martin did not participate this season to stay focused on the book.  I sure as hell hope he is more involved in the last season.

I'm not buying into that one season filmed in two halves and aired a year apart garbage.

it would have been better if it were only a few named guys and like 8 or 10 rangers.

Still, my least favorite aspect of it was the redshirts.  That is very lazy.

I don't mind it for the most part.  The loot train was amazing.  It makes sense for there to be less plot development and more action when you're wrapping up a war that has lasted 7 years.  There have still been episodes this season that were very dialog heavy.  But this entire plot point was transparently something they had to make up to get a bunch of characters where they needed to be.

Also, I'm very curious to see what storyline or plot development from Martin's version had to be condensed/removed/drastically changed to force them to come up with this nonsense, because I'm pretty sure he would not have contrived something like this.

I don't think the plan will work.  at least, I hope it does not (if by "working" you mean it convinces cersei to form some sort of alliance and we move into the last season with everyone working together).  I sure hope this season ends with cersei dead.
