The Fourth Estate
The Daily News won a judgement in NYC that could have direct and immediate effect on the White House's propensity to mess with the access of various out of favor news organizations.

Glenn Beck/The Blaze has suspended Tomi Lahren for a week or possibly indefinitely.

Apparently over her mentioning that she's pro-choice and sees the issue as one of government overreach.

So much for the tolerant left.

The New York Times' twitter debut, 10 years ago.

I've seen suggestions that NYT should always start social media posts with "Word up!" It is I, the Gray Lady

Guys, a guy I went to high school with and debated in Model Congress/UN was on Samantha Bee's show!

He founded a local paper in New Brunswick after graduating from Rutgers and has become a known muckracker and gadfly. He's been arrested at least twice now on bullshit charges that got dismissed. The cops in particular fucking hate him, and a lot of the local politicians are super rude to him when he shows up to public meetings to ask questions. A few months ago, someone sent him a water meter that suggested people at the water authority were rigging shit, and the cops were all over him trying to get the story quiet.

Anyway, here you go!

New York Times hired extreme climate denier Bret Stephens.  Their defense of the move:  "millions of people agree with him".

Truth is hard.

NYT fails.

The hiring was bad enough. Their excuse is far worse. They have moved into the fake news business.
Truth is out of style

My friend/old classmate from high school wrote a thing!:

The author missed a point, a very important point"

Quote
To be successful, Western governments need to focus on repairing the trust gap between citizens and media, and among citizens themselves.

That should include repairing the trust gap between themselves and their citizenry. That's where the biggest gap exists and where it is most easily repaired.

Transparency is the first step towards honesty.
Honesty is the first step towards trust.
Trust is the first step towards engagement.
Engagement is the first step towards understanding and equality.
Which is the first step towards freedom.

It's ours for free, if we want to have it. All we have to do is give up our secrecy.

Yes, I understand the reason for "secrets". You obviously do not want everyone to know your PIN for your various accounts. It's sad, but, yes, there are bad people out there, who would take advantage. But those "secrets" are a very vanishingly small percentage of what has become, regularly, "secret". i
Are we there yet?
