What, do you think Blueskyboris is going to destroy the community by posting silly posts? Grow up, Ravenscape!

It wasn't BSB who did not have a backup of the database on her computer. Boris is not responsible for that. Perhaps it is Blueskyboris pointing that fact out which has pissed you off?

Because this server is tiny and we've had access problems already that may be due to the level of activity on the site overall.

And because it's my server and I'm running around with my hair on fire.  I don't need the grief right now.

Bye Boris.  See you in a few  days.

I love seeing Ravenscape's inherent authoritarianism displayed when she's under a little stress. She must be a Clintonite.

You were being a terrible annoying rude guest in her own house, Boris. She was generous enough to host us on her own site and you couldn't stop being an asshole for ten minutes. You aren't cute at all.

Hi Borealis,
She is responsible for continuing the values of TR during the transition. She should not be permitted to act like Donald Trump just because the server company was incompetent.

So, no, TR does not magically become "Ravenscape's" house when there is an emergency. Freedom of speech does not take a holiday.

The correct response would have been: "Blueskyboris, please limit your posts per hour to two posts as the transitional server has a limited ability to respond to traffic". But, no, Ravenscape decided to go on a little holiday from community leader.

Nope. You're wrong, she has no such responsibility, she could have let TR members hang in the wilderness and no one would have faulted her. I'm sure you were free to speak all over the place.

IOW, no one cares about your baby whining, stay or go away, your choice.

Again, the continuity of the community simply does not disappear if there is such a disaster. That is why it is called TR. Your response is not rational in terms of cohesion.

And I trust you both agree that a change in form, fit, or function requires a new part number, or at the very very least a new revision number.  And a new revision number without a new part number is acceptable only if the revision number always accompanies the part number.

No, she is more like Rush Limbaugh: freedom of speech in the public sphere, but trashy favouritism in her own house.

Of course, your comparing her action to "the federal government" is WAAAAAAAAYYY off the mark. Ravenscape represents the communal legitimacy of Talk Rational. That legitimacy, that principle, should not take a vacation when the server breaks down and the site has to be hosted on a personal computer.
