Learning pennywhistle is right at the top of the list of signs of depression.
Just thinking about it depresses me.
Are we there yet?

Me too. Btw, I can play pennywhistle passably.
Love is like a magic penny
if you hold it tight you won't have any
if you give it away you'll have so many
they'll be rolling all over the floor

I can play the pennywhistle well enough to have a sing-along with the dog. She likes the Star Wars theme, and she doesn't mind that I don't really know all the notes.

I don't find it depressing at all.

Gah. I'm permanently surrounded by all sorts of whistly blowy things being blowed and whistled in. No bagpipes yet, that's a small relief.

Fast jigs and reels are quite catchy though.
It's what plants crave.

bought myself an Irish tin whistle and have been looking for some folk tunes to play and these kinds of images keep showing up next to the tabs/music on one of the sites:

lol wut

Is the site related to mudcat.com, by any chance? It's a great folk music forum with a huge archive of songs with chords and lyrics. Most of the people are super friendly and pleasant, but the site owner is a rabid fundy who gets vicious via PM with people who he considers not deferential enough towards god talk.

I posted there for a couple years around 12 years ago and was literally hounded off by him, along with several others (all women... hmm).

Who even made the rule that we cannot group ducks and fish together for the simple reason that they are both aquatic? If I want to group them that way and it serves my purpose then I can jolly well do it however I want to and it is still a nested hierarchy and you can't tell me that it's not.

An alt-right celebrity and Trump campaigner actually made a similar argument.

He has a point, though not in the way intended.

Prison reform now.

(also, I'm guessing that KT was referring to that)

Rubio's Twitter banner appears to be himself laughing maniacally as he watches the edifice of civilization collapsing, crushing the bones of faceless millions into powder

Yeah, North Korea has nukes. In contrast, Cuba has never been associated with any possibility of global nuclear conflict. Take that libs.
