Linda Brown.

You may not have known her first name, but you certainly knew her last.

This has been bothering me for a while, and I just want to get it off my chest: somehow I just know William Shatner is going to pass away this year. I can feel it in my Bones.

GotFF was maybe the saddest movie I've ever seen.
Love is like a magic penny
if you hold it tight you won't have any
if you give it away you'll have so many
they'll be rolling all over the floor

looks like the end is nearing for John mccain.  we knew glioblastoma probably meant he had months to live, and it's been many months since he was diagnosed, but we didn't know how it was going.  this kind of talk sounds like "this could be our last conversation".

Meghan McCain was a no-show for her daily gig on The View today (4-30-2018). The brief announcement stated she had "returned to Arizona to be with her family".
"This is your life and it's ending one minute at a time."

mccain says in the audio recording of his new book that he doesn't know whether he'll live 5 more years or be gone "before you hear this".  don't know when the recording was made.  possibly it doesn't reflect whatever prompted the tweets the other day and meghan going home to arizona.  or possibly all that was prompted by this comment in the audio book.

he connects the uncertainty about how long he has with "the miraculous advances in oncology".  suggests to me his condition is such that he would have been considered terminally ill a few years ago, but that something new (immunotherapy?) is holding the door open.  and/or maybe they're about to try something risky.

looks like there are several immunotherapy treatments for glioblastoma that are in stage III trials.  for years, no new glioblastoma treatments of any kind were getting past stage II.  now with immunotherapy, a bunch of them look promising.  some even report results with patients at an "advanced" state of the disease.

I'm picturing john showing up in DC by surprise, fresh off a successful treatment, and saying the rumors of his demise were greatly exaggerated.  he will then give a stirring speech about how terrible trump is, and how it's time to oppose trump's latest terrible bill or nominee, which he will then vote for.

he was a legitimately good person, or at least someone who tried to be and recognized his own flaws. his show focused as much if not more on social and cultural issues than it did on food. His shows didn't really delve into "poverty porn" style and always held a sympathetic view for the downtrodden and oppressed.

Plus he had a burning hatred for Kissinger, which is always good

Kissinger is somehow still alive while someone like Bourdain is dead. We live in HellWorld.

there are lots of stories floating around today about Bourdain's views and depictions of the world around him, treating others with humanity and respect, and his introspection into his own past words and actions and what they mean. this particular story made me  :unsmith:
