I hope once this trilogy is over they can go away from the Skywalkers and tell brand new stories in this universe.

Three trilogies of the tiny rebel alliance fighting against the current stand-in for the empire is too much.

Oh, and one thing that really bothered me in The Last Jedi is when the rebel ships were maintaining distance from the First Order (or whatever) ships their medical ship ran out of fuel and drifted back towards the bad ships and got blown up. They're in space. Shouldn't the medical ship have maintained the speed and direction it was going in when it ran out of fuel and thus stayed out of range of the bad guy's guns?

I thought they were under constant acceleration which is why they were burning fuel. When the one ship ran out of fuel the bad guys caught up to it.
Ready Player One

If you want a movie that's deeper and more meaningful than the typical blockbuster fare, this isn't it.

If you want a movie with lots of action, great visuals, and an enjoyable mash-up of gaming, popular culture, and the internet as serious business, this is the one to see. Hunting for Easter Eggs has never been so cool!

No kidding! What happened to that marsupial's ears?  :stare:
YouTube and Discord have also banned Atomwaffen

Until today, white supremacist group Atomwaffen had an active presence on YouTube. A previously removed video on its channel featured neo-Nazi members chanting "gas the kikes, race war now" and firing weapons, Motherboard reported, while others included images of swastikas and "black lives don't matter" signs. When asked about Atomwaffen by The Daily Beast earlier this week, YouTube stated its policy on "borderline" hate speech violations, giving no indication it planned to ban the group's account. On Wednesday, however, the site did just that.

"This account has been terminated due to multiple or severe violations of YouTube's policy prohibiting hate speech," a banner on Atomwaffen's former YouTube channel reads. Motherboard reports that all of the group's videos, dating back to June of last year, have been removed

The chat client Discord also recently banned Atomwaffen, along with a number of other white supremacist groups. "Discord has a Terms of Service (ToS) and Community Guidelines that we ask all of our communities and users to adhere to," a Discord representative told Polygon. "These specifically prohibit harassment, threatening messages, or calls to violence." While it's unclear exactly when Discord removed the groups, Polygon noted that users began griping about the purge on Reddit this week.

So they can't use Discord to arrange meet ups at Front Sight and post their exploits on YouTube. I hope they don't decide their next best option is making headlines on CNN.
please someone say they've been in this circle of jerks longer than me  :stareicide:
gooner, I honestly don't remember when I started reading IIDB or when I eventually signed up, so you can just pretend that I was also around 17 years ago. I had been around for at least 3-4 years before RnR was forged in the fires of hell.

I started at IIDB in 2001 so it's been 17 years for me, too.
Yeah, but you don't need special equipment that requires a very specific federal license to own to do all of that shit. All you need is at least one idiot in your band of garbage-bros to be literate enough to read some books.

There is absolutely no reason why civilians should be allowed to use fully automatic weapons unless they go through the hassle of getting a federally registered gun for themselves.

But, really, my point is about the owners of that place being surprised they might attract some of that crowd. Like fucking duh, you dumb fucks.

They're not surprised. Those are their best customers. The Tea Party militia types are the ones most likely to come back year after year, spend freely in the Pro Shop, and bring their friends as guests.
Finally reading the rest of this piece.

Hubsky returned from Death Valley enthused and eager to do more training. He uploaded a memo to the Atomwaffen chat. Members would now be required to join Front Sight, a "private combat training facility" outside of Las Vegas in the small desert town of Pahrump. Front Sight, the memo said, could provide classes in "Uzi and full auto M16 combat, as well as knife fighting, hand to hand combat," and instruction in climbing and rappelling.

"I don't know anything about this group," Bill Cookston, Front Sight's director of operations, said this week. "If anyone were to be doing something against the law or in a radical manner, we would look into that."

Shortly afterward, Michael Meacher, Front Sight's CEO, said the training center had sent Hubsky a letter refunding his membership fees and informing the Las Vegas resident that he was banned from the facility for life.

um what in the fucking fuck do you think people would go to a "private combat training" facility for?

I took a 4 day, 40 hour basic firearms training class at the Front Sight facility in Pahrump.  The emphasis was on safety, safety, and safety. Marksmanship was part of the training and it had kind of an Intro to Home Defense section. But the entire first day and at least half of the other three was spent on drills designed to instill good habits, things like checking that the chamber is empty and the safety is 'on' before securing the gun in a holster. The Range Master and 2 additional instructors kept everyone on a short leash. No stupid human tricks allowed.

Front Sight offered a class on semi automatic weapons but I have no direct knowledge of what they teach in that one.

The facility did have a Ted Nugent quote painted on the wall at the entrance to the lunch room/lecture hall. And there were a lot of folks there who seemed eager for a chance to shoot someone. But the operators do a pretty good job of not overtly encouraging bloodshed even as they talk up the 'be prepared' line.

If you want to own a handgun I recommend the 4 day class. IMO too many gun owners don't know how to handle the things safely.

The 16-year-old and his dad.
I'm going to be severely disappointed by the piss tape.

I've long thought it was going to be a video of fat fuck Trump in his tighty whities being a recipient of a train of prostitutes giving him a parade of golden showers very much in the vein of that old Bill Hicks joke about Rush Limbaugh.

But now it's sounding like it's going to be more of Trump in the corner wearing a suit egging on Russian whores to pee on a bed.

Not really as effective as what I thought it was going to be.

Oh, I dunno. I think it could be entertaining either way.

If it turns out that Trump likes girlpiss, all us gals can send him jars full of the stuff as a token of just how much we like him. And if he wants to pour it all over his bed at Mar-a-Lago and sleep in it, that's even better.
I watched Spirited Away (Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi) in the local movie theater last Sunday.

Spirited Away is amazing. The story is really good, the characters are clearly and lovingly defined, and the artwork is sublime. One of the things I love about Studio Ghibli and Hayao Miyazaki films in particular is that they allow quiet moments to unfold naturally. They don't try to pack every minute with noise and bustle or hurry the plot along with silly sidekicks. But when they do go for action it's great! Haku and the paper birds, No-face in the bathhouse, and my favorite scene where Sen helps the 'stink spirit' are just wonderful.

If you haven't had the pleasure of seeing a Miyazaki film on the big screen, the next one up is Howl's Moving Castle. It will be showing in theatres nationwide the last weekend in November.
Must have been white people throwing them.

... because if it was black folks, they would have been throwing cans of Pepsi.

They both look better that way. They should swap hair for real.

A truly grand finale for Hugh Jackman's Wolverine and Patrick Stewart's Professor X. Well worth the ticket.
Long Way North.

French/Danish animated film about a 14 year old girl in late 19th century Russia following in her adventurous grandfather's footsteps. Simply but beautifully done, and almost entirely devoid of Disney tropes.
