my cat regularly does that.
One of my cats choked up an entire bat, pretty much intact, if wet and dead.Same cat brought home a live unharmed baby otter once, and went to considerable effort to get me to deal with it, crying and pacing from me to the door step where he'd laid it down. Gov't wildlife guy came and took it to a provincial wildlife park where they rehab such critters. Also he told me otters are really dumb when they move their dens, which is frequently, and it's not uncommon for them to drop a kit between old and new and then forget about it.
