Just saw Bruce Cockburn
(felt I had to start with that so no one would think he died)

At 71 I hope my voice is as strong. He was on, played a powerful set for about 2 hours. No note was out of place unlike the last time I saw him, although that was one of those one man, one guitar things.

And he played a complete survey of his catalogue, even dipping back to the early 70s for one. I never heard him play Peggy's Kitchen Wall live before so that was a real treat. I hoped to hear Tokyo, and he started with it. My partner wanted to hear Coldest Night of the Year, and she got that second half. Ended on Stolen Land, on Treaty 7 land. Very nice.

For those who have no idea who he is...

Gutted that more people didn't seem to realize one MUST sing the chorus in counterpoint last night

This was my third show, my partner's 7th time. He came out on stage with a simple "nice to see you again"

By comparison, I have only seen the Grateful Dead once. But they played a Cockburn tune!

Lol. I've never seen the Grateful Dead. But i painted a Dead-style rose embellished skull on somebody's motorcycle tank in 1969 and got paid for it.

So did I, mid-'80s.

The Stealing Fire tour by any chance?

I saw him first early 90s in Ann Arbor, then 2002 at the Hamilton Festival of Friends, with Colin Linden as the opening act and some backup instrumentals (who I managed to accidentally out on a mandolin board we both frequent)

Yup.  Just before "If I had a rocket launcher" he spoke for a while about the circumstances that brought him to write it.
