Default Ancient whale jawbone found in Antarctica

Quote:
The jawbone of an ancient whale found in Antarctica may be the oldest fully aquatic whale yet discovered, Argentine scientists said Tuesday.

A scientist not involved in the find said it could suggest that whales evolved much more quickly from their amphibian precursors than previously thought.

Argentine paleontologist Marcelo Reguero, who led a joint Argentine-Swedish team, said the fossilized archaeocete jawbone found in February dates back 49 million years. In evolutionary terms, that's not far off from the fossils of even older proto-whales from 53 million years ago that have been found in South Asia and other warmer latitudes.

Hat Tip Uncommon Descent! (actually a commenter at Sandwalk who linked there):

That's where Febble seems to hang out these days.

Well, wouldn't you expect penguins to hang out in Antarctica?

They are following the Jesus-whale, I guess. Samson could kill one thousand men with the jawbone of an ass. Because he left the bigger jawbone of a whale, it obviously means that we should kill millions. That's why creationists threw you out Clasty, you are too evolutionist for them.

The creotards and IDiots are more and more pushed back to internet places where they are protected by biased moderation and censorship of opposing views. If you want to keep arguing with them, you have to go there.

So Febble goes there. And by golly, don't they know it! Febble, the Courteous Destroyer.

As for VoxRat and ericmurphy, who knows? Maybe they're resting on their laurels for a while, and who's to blame them?

There's lots of interesting stuff brought here - but not much in the way of knock-'em-down, drag-'em-out argument these days.

Let's face it, if Atheistoclast were the best proponent of unScience, the war would be won already.

With the public faces of creationism and ID being the likes of Ken Ham, Eric Hovind, Ray Comfort, Dr Dr Dembski, and so on, these movements are now apparently led by folk who are instantly identifiable by Joe Public as liars and certifiable loonies.

I'd really like to see a good, well-designed poll of who believes what nowadays.

Creo-bashing is easy, boring, and unsatisfying. Pseudoscience is where the action is. Picking apart alternative medicine, dispelling old ideas that die hard, etc. There is more to say, things to learn, and no shortage of new ridiculousness.

Eric has been spending a fair amount of time in the evo-science forum at Theology Web. I doubt Klastie would last too long there, especially if he shot his mouth off about Holocaust denial, but if we've grown too jaded for him, he's welcome to wander over there and try.

Ow. My head hurts just reading those five words.

How long do you think I'd last?

  1. Hello Guest,
As you have noticed (and we agree), this website is pretty awesome. Why you would choose to not be a member or logged in is baffling to both of us. The process is simple and costs you nothing, unless you really feel the urge to pay then we will not deny you that request. Back on point, once you become a member you will wonder why you put up with this notice all this time and ask yourself, "What was I thinking?" Being a tWebber is too awesome to pass up.
So stop playing ninja trying to act all stealth and lurking about (we see you), do you really want to be seen as a "lurker". Its like you are peeking in people's windows while they undress. How naughty of you. Does your mom know what you are doing right now? She agrees you should just register or login already. Good job.

    very judgemental

Isn't there a subtle difference between amphibian and amphibious? And shouldn't they have used the latter one? I am having a nasty mental image of a frog-whale right now.

Also, let's not forget - let's *not* forget, Dude - that keeping wildlife, an amphibious rodent, for uh, domestic, you know, within the city - that aint legal either.
