Default Richard for NSGA Treasurer

Well, I just wanted to tell everyone that I am running for our Student Government's Treasurer position. I think it'll be a tight race!

Good luck, Richard! When do you find out the results?

Good luck : )

I'm the treasurer here and I've been one on lots of nonprofit boards. I'm going to write a draft of the fiscal policies this weekend, and I'll post them and you can help refine them for practice if you want.

I was the treasurer for my student government in college. It was a stressful, thankless, and useless job, but they gave me a really nice T-shirt when I completed my term.

Voting is April 3rd and 4th. I am running against one guy, its really iffy if he can pull out a win or not.

If elected, I will basically be a behind the scenes officer, which I don't mind.

People usually want the treasurer to be serious, responsible and a bit anal about keeping track of things. They want them to understand things like separation of duties and how to make sure that there are checks and balances so that no one (especially the treasurer) can hide expenditures or donations. That's not always easy to do in a small group, but it's possible.

I can help you with the technical stuff, but I've been out of college so long that I'm not sure what kinds of campaigns work for that age group. Name recognition is always important because a lot of people just vote for the name that they're familiar with. Getting lots of flyers and posters out with your basic platform is always a good thing to do.

I'm using Facebook as one of my main campaign advertisements, that's a big one. I am also going to start posting fliers soon. I have more face recognition then my opponent because I am Sophomore and he is just a freshmen, I am way more involved in Campus Activities then he is.
