actually sting is terrible. they even had a sting related episode on friends for fucks sake. that shows how average he is. the only other band they ever featured was hootie and the blowfish, which goes to show the company he's in.

Hole is honestly not nearly as bad as people make them out to be. A lot of the Hole-hate is based in a combination of rock misogyny and resentment that Cobain ventilated his skull with a shotgun.

Live Through This was a fantastic album. I say "was" because it seems a bit dated now. The rumor was Cobain had a lot to do with that album.

I don't really consider much of Hole to be all that dated.

Anyways, you could probably also equally make the argument that Courtney Love had a lot to do with In Utero, too. AFAICT, that doesn't really take away anything from either album.

yeah, I don't think uncredited collaboration takes away either. I actually think it's kinda cool when that happens in music.

I guess the music hasn't dated all that much, but the videos sure have, which for me at least (being in high school at the time) is hard to separate as MTV was a huge part of my life then.

whatever hole's other failings, their cover of gold dust woman is superb.

Alphaville. Not particularly good, perhaps even crap. But I really like their first 2 albums anyway. So sue me.

i get really excited when songs from mandy moore's first album come on, more specifically "candy"

i like that party in the USA song

and that cornership song, brim full of asha. i like it.

but i think this is more "songs you like that are terrible" instead of "songs you like that aren't that good".

I have a ton of music that's not that good that's all nostalgic for me: hole, gin blossoms, goo goo dolls, everclear, eve6, no doubt/gwen stefani. I hear these songs and i instinctively turn up the radio to sing a long and then get embarrassed.

I also think a lot of beyonce's catchy shit is pretty good.
